Eileen Gu's first gold of her career while Mathilde Gremaud tries to console Tess Ledeux, who had the gold stolen from under her nose.

You almost feel sorry for Eileen Gu who has proved just how good she is, and just how far she will go to achieve this.

Tess Ledeux knows its not enough and that leg up on landing. She has given her absolute best but it is not enough.

It's just a giant signpost for the judges.

    Women's ski big air final

Tess Ledeux needed a score of 94, she gets 73.5 and China's Eileen Gu, third before the last run, takes the gold medal.

Ledeux was leading the way after the first two runs, but Gu, with some third-run wizardry, snatches the gold - with a huge cheer from the home fans when it is announced.

Switzerland's Mathilde Gremaud is third, Canada's Megan Oldham is fourth with Britain's 17-year-old Kirsty Muir taking fifth.

It is all about the session - when you start to see all the tricks going down.

We know Mathilde Gremeaud has a medal, but the favourite is coming down.

Mathilde Gremaud went for broke, doesn't land it and it's only bronze for her.

The gold is either going to China's Eileen Gu or France's Tess Ledeux.

You can imagine the scenes at Shougang as home favourite Eileen Gu stomps her third jump. She's in tears and the crowd go absolutely wild when she goes into the lead. Can anyone beat her to gold?

Absolutely massive for Eileen Gu - she is overwhelmed underneath the scoreboard here!

The 1620 is such a big trick. That's an airbag trick for her - it's not something she's putting down on snow.

Look at her hands shaking! 94.5 - she goes into gold medal position and she is on her knees.

Eileen Gu, with four-and-a-half rotations, delights the Chinese fans.

She loves it, her coach loves it, the fans love it.

That's a score of 94.5 and with two to go, she's in gold medal position. Great scenes.

The medallists are going to be Tess Ledeux of France, Mathilde Gremaud of Switzerland and Eileen Gu of China. But in what order?

That was absolutely massive - Kirsty Muir had to go for it, but she went down

Stunning take off, she got the grab as well, but she just went a little bit too big.

Clearly a bit disappointed but the future is very bright, and she will bring all that energy to the slopestyle.

  14. Postpublished at 02:58 Greenwich Mean Time 8 February 2022

Britain's Kirsty Muir goes for it - it's all or nothing. It looks sensational, right until the landing and she can't hold on as she wipes out and crashes.

That run, a score of 15.5, won't be counted in her two best ones, and Muir is going to finish in fifth with a score of 169.

What a great effort from the youngest member of Team GB, though. Thankfully, she's OK after that crash.

There it is - she has one hand on the gold medal.
