The cream rises to the top.

In the last pair to go, the Netherlands Irene Schouten makes light of the pressure to add the Olympic 5,000m title to her world crown in the event. It is her second gold of the Games after 3,000m sucess earlier this week.

And she has bagged an Olympic record into the bargain with a time of 6:43.51.

Silver goes to Canada's Isabelle Weidemann with Martina Sablikova of the Czech Republic getting bronze.

That is HUGE. And a bit of redemption for Eve Muirhead after that miss against Switzerland earlier in the extra end.

Still time for the Swedes but a four-score lead in the team event is harder to claw back than the mixed doubles.

Well what an end for Great Britain. A sigh of relief and maybe Eve Muirhead might even smile.

After a four in the fourth, GB find themselves 5-1 up.

Sweden's skip has made a few too many errors - and what an opportunity this presents for GB now.

  5. GB take control with a fourpublished at 13:14 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2022

Women's curling: Sweden 1-5 Great Britain (after four ends)

Nervous look from Eve Muirhead as her gaze follows the final British stone down the sheet... she's nailed it!!

The British skip expertly knocks the lone Swedish stone out of the house, leaving four Britain red stones home alone.

Four unmatched stones equals four points in the fourth end.

    FOUR-some...

    Boom!

Canada's Isabelle Weidemann pulls out the performance for her career so far to move to the top of the standings with a time of six minutes 48.18 seconds.

She is guaranteed a medal with only two more athletes to go.

And one is the world champion Irene Schouten of the Netherlands.

Anna Hasselborg has not quite been at the races today. She's been calling some good shots but hasn't been performing today.

Swedish skip Anna Hasselborg has to go out wide to pitch a red stone in the mixer. Golden chance for GB here...

Has Eve Muirhead got this one right?

Yep! She has removed those reds and has four yellows in the house.

Quality from Eve Muirhead! She's just about edging the battle of the two skips. After Anna Hasselborg doesn't nail her penultimate throw, Muirhead skittles the Swedish stones and leaves four British stones unchallenged.

I don't think Vicky Wright played that badly, but it has been very weight critical. That was an unfortunate error there.

But we are certainly giving Sweden something to think about - there are a lot of yellows in the house.

They need to get a second stone in here - just where do they want to put it.

Ah, easier said than done. Vicky Wright can't make the most of that advantage, knocking a Swedish red stone onto a British yellow and sending that out of the house.

Wright's facial expression - eyes narrowed and cheeks tightened in tension and frustration - says it all.

The Swedes go all Kingpin after a lengthy time out. They decide on a runback takeout but it works out more Munson than McCracken. Advantage Britain.

    That was emphatic!

Czech Republic's Martina Sablikova comes home 6.80 seconds faster than Russian Natalia Voronina to take top spot and possession of the gold medal.

    For now.

In the next pairing is Canada's Isabelle Weidemann, who came fourth over this distance in last year's World Championships.

Sweden will want to follow Sara McManus' stone in if they can.

But I'm not sure they have got the weight. They are just not quite getting the shots they are looking for at the moment.

Women's curling: Sweden 1-1 Great Britain

Eve Muirhead wants the fifth-from-last British stone into the four foot.

"Good shot Jen!" shouts Muirhead, waving her brush north and in the direction of her colleague Dodds.

A lot of shouting and pointing going on. Communication is key in this game.

Anna Hasselborg is trying to rescue this. Sweden have had the hammer since the beginning and what a shot.

It's not a two, she managed to squeeze that yellow out. It's just one.

GB have done well too - some nice shots played by the team. GB will have the hammer in the fourth end.

  20. Sweden levelpublished at 12:53 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2022

Women's curling: Sweden 1-1 Great Britain (after three ends)

What a save! This is why Anna Hasselborg has had such a fine career. The Sweden skip throws a beautifully-weighted final stone, narrowly avoiding the guard before knocking the front red stone onto the British one behind.

That's Sweden on the board and brings the two teams level.
