Great Britain's match is sandwiched between Canada v Switzerland on one sheet and Russian Olympic Committee v Denmark on the other.

I've barely heard a sound from the Denmark lane but the Canadians.... well, let's just say you'd never know they were the furthest away from me.

Double Olympic gold medallist Nils van der Poel after breaking the world record on the way to winning the 10,000m: "I am very satisfied at the moment. This was the main goal three years ago when I started to approach this and it has turned out a lot better than I could have ever expected.

"The leading time was 12:44 I think and I was set for that and was going for a 12:38 or a 12:35.

"Technically it was not the best race of my life but physically I am in very good shape.

"I did not want to risk going too hard too early but with five laps to go I felt the world record was within reach and I tried to go for it."

Nice business from Great Britain, who move two clear as they make the most of the hammer.

Round-robin: Norway 1-1 Great Britain (after two ends)

    Nice from Bruce Mouat.

If I know anything* from teenage days in bowling lanes it is that a split is very difficult to hit.

And that is what he has left Norway. Two red stones with several feet of clear ice between them.

    * - the other thing was that overarm bowling is not a way to ensure you stay about long enough to complete a game.

  5. Visualisation key to skeleton preparationpublished at 12:45 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

    Skeleton

    Lizzy Yarnold
Two-time Olympic champion on BBC TV

We can only practice down the track six runs before a competition, so six minutes practice down any track. They’re all completely different to each other. So practice in your mind where you’re trying to steer, where you’re trying to let the sled run as much as possible. It’s all about friction and action.

It’s really important visualise, take yourself there, smell it, feel it hear it, and that really can advance those and make those much more mentally strong, mentally equipped for the stressful situations.

The third of four heats of the men's skeleton is under way at the Yanqing National Sliding Centre and the sliders race in ranking order from fastest after the first two runs to the slowest.

Germany's Christopher Grotheer is looking good for the gold medal, stretching his lead over team-mate Axel Jungk. Meanwhile Russian Olympic Committee's Alexander Tretiakov has leapfrogged China's Yan Wengang into the bronze medal position.

Britons Matt Weston and Marcus Wyatt are out of medal contention but will be looking to move up the order with clean and fast runs.

We are all tied up after two ends. Both teams playing pretty well. One of two errors here and there.

Already quite a bit of work being done by the two sweepers - 'Hammie and Lammy'.

That is Hammy McMillan and Bobby Lammie by the way. But I think we can alll agree that 'Hammy and Lammy' or 'HamLam' is a very pleasing shorthand.

    That is some solid curling.

Norway's skip Steffan Walstad bonks the British stone on the nose sending it skidding to the boards.

    Level pegs.

Norway with the hammer in this end, but Bruce Mouat's penultimate stone is none too shabby, leaving his team lying three.

  11. Schulting through to finalpublished at 12:27 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Short track speed skating women's 1,000m

Earlier, Dutch skater Suzanne Schulting set a new world record in the quarter-finals of the women's 1,000m.

Unsurprisingly she wasn't able to match that rapid time in the semi-finals, but she was still the quickest in her race.

That puts her through to the medal race, which takes place at 12:43 GMT. Belgium's Hanne Desmet finished second in a Low Countries carve-up.

The second semi-final was much quicker, with American Kristen Santos and Italy's Arianna Fontana qualifying as the top two and joined by Korea's Min-jeong Choi as the fastest third-placed skater.

But it could have been either better...

Bruce Mouat's final stone nuzzles up close to ensure Britain score one, but clips another red stone on its way to ensure it is only a one-shot lead, rather than two, for Great Britain.

    Round-robin: Norway v Great Britain

Bruce Mouat's penultimate stone is a little late applying the brakes, but comes to rest just in time to leave Britain lying one ahead of the final efforts.

The first end is under way.

But first things, first. The most important thing to note is the sad demise of Norway's proud tradition of garish trousers.

It has died with the retirement of former skip Thomas Ulsrud. The current curling class are wearing black trousers.

    A moment's silence please...

    Right, on with the action.

  18. Great Britain coming in off a defeatpublished at 12:08 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

    Men's curling round-robin: Great Britain v Norway

Right, a quick recap for those at the back.

Great Britain come into this one on the back of a 9-7 defeat by defending Olympic champions USA earlier today.

Bruce Mouat's team did however knock off the dangerous Italy in their round-robin opener on Thursday coming though 7-5.

In total there are nine round-robin matches to decided who makes it to the semi-finals. Lose more than three of your round-robin games and you are normally done for in your hopes of progressing.

    Isabel AtkinImage source, Getty

Britainn's Izzy Atkin has had to call it a day in her attempt at a miracle injury comeback and will not compete in the slopestyle event in which she won bronze four years ago in Pyeongchang.

The 23-year-old broke her pelvis at the Dew Tour in Colorado in December.

Atkin had previously withdrawn from the big air competition to maximise her recovery time on a comeback bid she admitted doctors said was "impossibly ambitious".

Lights down, Scotland the Brave on the bagpipes now, we’re getting close.

The Chinese bagpipe player started learning the instrument seven years ago and I’m told by people in the know that the band has been practising practically day and night for the past six months.
