"Jamaica we have a bobsled team."

They’re young, they’re confident and right now the United States are showing the rest of the world what they are going to have to beat if they want to win gold here at Beijing 2022.
For the Canadians it’s disappointment, they struggled to contain the Americans in this one.
But what a game of ice hockey that was to start the day.
Bobsleigh - two-man training

BBC Sport in Beijing
The Yanqing sliding track has not been a good hunting ground for Team GB in the skeleton but with the bobsleigh it's looking a whole lot more promising!
Brad Hall and Nick Gleeson have been in two-man training this morning and posted the second fastest time.
They have the opportunity for six training runs before the competition begins and the duo took part in five of them but decided not to have the sixth run, like a number of other teams.
I spoke to them earlier this week and they were happy with the way things were shaping up.
"It’s a brand new track .. so it’s been a lot of learning to try and get ahead of our opponents to find the fastest way down," Hall said.
"I think we’ve got it pretty well worked out and the only thing we need to do is string together four runs and that will put us in a good position."
Switzerland 4-2 ROC
Swiss joy!
With the Russian Olympic Committee team throwing the kitchen sink at them and opting to play without a keeper, the Swiss defend doggedly and Alina Miller sends one into the net from her own half, sparking celebration everywhere.
The Swiss move on to the semi-finals of the women's competition.
USA 4-2 Canada
All a bit heavy handed for my liking...
ROC 2-3 Switzerland
Two minutes on the clock in the women's quarter-final between Switzerland and the Russian Olympic Committee team. The Swiss lead 3-2 and it's all on the line.

The US have what could be a vital fourth goal.
Great play from the captain to drive it into the zone one-handed. A powerful shot from Kenny Agostino has crept through.
Is that the breathing space the US need in this game?
Seven minutes remain.

Boom for the USA, Kenny Agostino swipes home and the puck squirms under the keeper and they have breathing space in this group fixture.

"A really nice finish from Corban Knight.
"That will frustrate the US that they gifted the opportunity to Canada."
USA may well be frustrated to have let Canada back into it as the second period ends. Just 20 minutes remain in this group fixture.
"I'm not sad, I'm happy. What a life, what a career, what a legacy to leave behind.
"It's not about today, it's about a whole lifetime of this sport.
"Thank you snowboarding, it's been my life."

Not so fast my main man Kent Simpson.
Canada back in it. They go short-handed and Corban Knight gets one back for them.
The second period is nearly done and an epic final 20 minutes awaits.

As we’ve come to expect with this USA team you cannot rest, they are too quick.
There’s so many young players coming through the ranks, several of them in this game, who are turning heads with what they are doing.
Switzerland 1-1 ROC
Phoebe Staenz nets a big, big goal for Switzerland in their women's quarter-final against the Russian Olympic Committee team.
Staenz apparently likes playing the piano and drums. It's sweet music if she sends the Swiss to the semi-finals that's for sure.
We're nearing the end of the second of three periods and right on cue, ROC level. Anna Savonina on target.
All to play for on the ice my brothers and sisters. Play hard and forget being fair.
USA 3-1 Canada

USA 3-1 Canada
Ruthless from the USA. Brendan Brisson is on hand to make it 3-1. There's not a lot in this game, both sides have had a similar number of shots and it's ultra competitive but the US have just been efficient in taking chances when they come.
