A few moments ago we saw the Russians and Germany end the Scandi duopoly in the cross-country skiing women's team relay.

Norway were the overwhelming favourites, but missed out on the podium as Sweden beat them to the bronze.

Here's more analysis of what we've just seen...

    Snowboarding men's halfpipe

Ayumu Hirano might be the new Olympic snowboard halfpipe champion, but there is still something eating at the Japanese rider.

After beating retiring legend Shaun White and a host of others to win gold in the men's halfpipe on Friday, Hirano had a pop at the judges.

Hirano had to come from behind on his final run to win, saying he was "angry" and "didn't understand" why his jaw-dropping second run did not put him into first place.

Today he has called for wholesale changes to the judging system.

"We want to have sound standards and I think we should look into exactly what the judges were looking at," said the 23-year-old.

"For the athletes, they're putting their lives on the line, they're giving it their all.

"So for the riders, I think some steps need to be taken to address this issue regarding the judges."

We've had an Olympic record from the team from Japan in the women's team pursuit quarter-finals.

Ayano Sato plus sisters Miho and Nana Takagi completed their six laps in a time of two minutes 53.61 seconds to break their own Olympic record set four years ago in Pyeongchang.

Canada, expected to be Japan's challengers for gold, progressed to the semi-finals as second-fastest, followed by Netherlands and ROC.

They'll be back on Tuesday for the final stages.

A new star is born in the Russian team, she has been simply phenomenal.

The Russians will be back on top, bronze four years ago, it's gold this time and they've done it in some style.

How many more golds will come for Veronika Stepanova? She's finished that brilliantly.

Brilliant! Veronika Stepanova shows why she is a junior champion on the biggest stage of all - leading her team to Olympic gold.

Picking the youngster was seen as a gamble but it completely paid off with that sensational last leg.

Germany cling on to silver, with Sweden nabbing bronze in a dive for the line.

Here she goes! Russian skier Veronika Stepanova whizzes past Germany's Sofie Krehl and creates a decent gap as they bolt towards the line.

Incredible from the youngster. She's away in the distance, round the bend with Krehl disappearing from her rear-view mirror.

Meanwhile, the Nordic trio are still scrapping it out behind for Olympic bronze and national pride.

Sweden are just ahead of Finland as they climb up the incline, with Norway falling slightly behind.

The Germans have won this title twice, in 1980 and 2002.

Not many people were fancying they could take the gold with the likes of Norway, Finland and Russia behind them.

A straight fight between Germany and the Russians, it seems.

Germany's Sofie Krehl still leads at the halfway point of the final lap, but is just 1.5 seconds ahead of Veronika Stepanova.

The young Russian - 21 years old and a junior world champion in this distance - is biding her time but looks poised to make a move soon...

    Men's curling: round robin

After a lot of shouting and sweeping we're into the eighth end of the top-of-the-table curling match between Canada and Sweden's men.

Sweden currently lead 5-2 as they look to extend their unbeaten record in the competition.

Brad Gushue, the Canadian skip, has work to do.

Incidentally, I'm told that since 1998 every Canadian men's skip has been called either Kevin or Brad. A useless fact for your Saturday morning.

Incredible response from Germany's Victoria Carl. She's a sprint specialist and shows why by racing to the line.

There's a five-second gap between her and the Russian as Carl hands over to Sofie Krehl.

Germany's Victoria Carl isn't ready to give up the fight. She's hanging on to Tatiana Sorina's coattail. Metaphorically, not literally. Less than half a second between the pair now.

About 20 seconds further back, Norway, Sweden and Finland are having their own mini-battle.

The best Nordic trio since A-Ha.

Rob was bang on the money. The Norwegians have now been overtaken by their Swedish and Finnish rivals in the early stages of the third leg.

We've had a change of disciplines, remember. The skiers have gone freestyle.

Germany's Victoria Carl was handed the lead, but has already been hauled back by Tatiana Sorina of the Russian Olympic Committee.

    The Russians at the front!

The Norwegians almost inevitably are the defending champions and world champions but this an absolutely loaded line-up.

Sweden may well pose a challenge. Finland are bidding for their first title since the inaugural edition of this event when it was a three-person relay instead of four all the way back in 1956 and the Russians who picked up the silver medal at last year's World Championship also fancy their chances.

So a few question marks over the Norwegian dominance.

I think Finland will be quite happy right now, they are going to be well set up.

Germany who had very quietly said before this we might have a shot of a podium here are so well placed.
