Suter once wrote on her Instagram page: "The ultimate dream in life is to be able to do what you love. Behind all of the achievements lies a lot of hard work and the support of so many people who have never given up on me and who have worked tirelessly so that I can be in this position. To all those people I want to say thank you - THANK YOU for the experience of a lifetime."

The journey could be about to get even better.

"Stoked" is definitely the word of the Games.

  4. 'I was pretty confident'published at 04:26 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2022

    Women's freeski slopestyle final

Women's freeski slopestyle gold medallist Mathilde Gremaud speaking to BBC: "It was definitely nerve-racking, it was a long wait. I was just crossing my fingers that it would hold onto first place or at least a podium spot.

"I was nervous but at the same time I was pretty confident because I knew that my run was something good and I was stoked about it. That was already a big accomplishment for me. It was crazy but fun to see every skier come through and cheer them and hug them.

"It feels amazing to complete the set [of medals] I didn't think that would ever happen. It's crazy."

Remember, Kirsty Muir is only 17, so there's only one place she's headed when she gets back to Blighty.

"As soon as I get home I should be in school! I fly home on Thursday, so definitely the Monday," she said. "Maybe even the Friday, I've got a lot to catch up on!"

That gold for Mathilde Gremaud was part of the story. There were also two encouraging British displays with Kirsty Muir and Katie Summerhayes in the top 10.

Some Muir reaction coming up from our very own Katie Falkingham next...

Lara Gut-Behrami will have to make do with the Olympic gold in the super-G and bronze in the giant slalom.

Not a bad haul in one Games eh?

She clocks 1:34.03 here to finish over two seconds off compatriot Corinne Suter, who still leads the way.

And just like that, some Italian faces show frustration.

Corinne Suter has just fizzed down for Switzerland to take top billing. He mark of 1:31.87 is 16 hundredths of a second quicker than Sofia Goggia.

    Fine margins folks.

Wow, that was one huge roar from Sofia Goggia!

The Italian has a lead of 0.41 seconds at the top of the standings.

That roar was about more than just the time she set, that was all about the effort it has taken to get here after that injury two weeks before the Games.

What a story we have brewing here.

Sofia Goggia clocks 1:32.03, enough for the gold medal spot. Italy in positions one two and three.

My people in Rome, can you feel it?

She's out of contention, but Mikaela Shiffrin will once again be glad to have made it to the end of the run after the Olympics she's had.

She's still got a chance in alpine combined, that event could really suit her.

  17. 'Shiffrin has combined to come'published at 04:02 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2022

    Alpine skiing - women's downhill

    Sarah Mulkerrins
    BBC Reporter in Beijing

It's really interesting because Mikaela Shiffrin's two best events are the technical events and we saw her crash out of those and almost scratch her head as to what was happening and then she got that run in the Super G. She was low down but that has given her some confidence and she's spoken about the kindness she has received from everyone on social media.

But she will have the combined to come which is potentially where it could happen for her - but if she is skiing with no pressure you never know, she could potentially pull it out of the bag.

American Mikaela Shiffrin came to Beijing with chances of a medal in five individual events. But things have not gone to plan - she skied out of her first two races (giant slalom and slalom) and finished ninth in the super-G.

At one point it looked like she was going to sit out the rest of the Games but she has picked herself up and now says medals are far from her mind.

“I’m not focusing on the medal anymore. It’s just trying to do my best execution every day," she said.

"The medal in itself, I have had medals, that's OK. I am just out here to fight and give it my best shot and we will see what happens."

  20. Sisters do Italy proud...published at 03:58 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2022

    Alpine skiing - women's downhill

Italian sisters Nicol Delgado and Nadia Delgado will be runs 10 and 11 in this final.

Ideal for their family as they can set the alarm, watch the two runs and get back to bed.

Nicol's run is enough for fifth. What can Nadia serve up? Wow. The family will be staying up as she blitzes into silver, 0.42 seconds off the top spot.
