The women's downhill was held up earlier after a serious looking injury to French skier Camille Cerutti.

The 23-year-old crashed in the early part of the race and it has been confirmed she suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and an injury to the medial meniscus of her right knee.

It's going to be a long road of recovery for her and we wish Cerutti well.

  4. Norway win dramatic biathlon relay goldpublished at 09:20 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2022

    Men's biathlong 4x7.5km relay

We told you a little earlier about a dramatic finish in the biathlon men's 4x7.5km relay.

Norway overturned a massive deficit in the final two legs as ROC crumbled at the final trip to the shooting range.

Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen was mobbed by his team-mates on the finish line after bringing home the gold.

It secured Johannes Thingnes Boe (third right in pic below) his third gold of the Games.

His brother Tarjei, who took bronze behind him in the individual event, was also in the winning team.

  5. Where could GB's first medal come from?published at 09:16 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2022

Before the Games, UK Sport believed between three and seven medals could be won, but analysts Nielsen Gracenote predict only one will now go Team GB's way - a silver in men's curling.

Bruce Mouat's rink are currently second in the round-robin standings, having won five of their six matches so far. Mouat and partner Jen Dodds had been medal favourites in the mixed doubles event as reigning world champions, but finished fourth.

But where else could medals be won? All eyes will be on the Yanqing zone over the next few days, as alpine skier Dave Ryding takes to the snow and Brad Hall's four-man bobsleigh team takes to the ice.

On Wednesday, Ryding will look to build on his maiden World Cup gold with a slalom medal at what is his fourth Winter Olympics.

Then, come Saturday, Hall, Nick Gleeson, Greg Cackett and Taylor Lawrence will be eyeing the podium at the sliding centre, looking to add an Olympic medal to the three World Cup silvers they have already won this season.

In Zhangjiakou, freestyle skier Zoe Atkin will be keen to follow in her sister Izzy's footsteps on to the podium. Atkin - bronze medallist at the 2021 World Championships - goes in the halfpipe on Thursday and Friday, four years after her sibling won Team GB's first ever Olympic skiing medal.

There hasn't been much for British fans to get excited about at these Games from a medal-winning perspective.

Anna's update (see below) sounds promising.

We'll keep an eye on that one as the week develops but where else could a British medal come from?

  7. McNeill and Douglas look good in trainingpublished at 09:10 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2022

I know it's only training and I know we can't read a whole lot into it but British bobsleigh duo Mica McNeill and Montell Douglas seem to have the measure of the track so far in Beijing.

They have finished third in both training runs and have four more before the competition begins on Friday.

It is McNeill's second Games. She finished eighth in Pyeongchang four years ago.

Douglas is the first British woman to compete in the both the Summer and Winter Olympics - having been a sprinter when the summer Games were held in Beijing in 2008.

She's been writing a column for the BBC Sport website and you'll be able to ready her latest one on Thursday.

From 10:00 GMT we will see the controversial return to competition for Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva.

She has dominated the headlines over the past week after it became apparent the 15-year-old failed a drugs test.

Valieva is being allowed to compete at Beijing 2022 after a court ruled on Monday ruled that a provisional suspension should not be re-imposed.

Before the Games she was the big favourite for the women's individual event, and she has already wowed judges to help the Russian Olympic Committee to victory in the team event, but how will she deal with everything that has gone on?

If Valieva wins there will be no medal ceremony.

Unsurprisingly Vicky Wright was pretty pleased with the Great Britain performance in the 10-4 win over Japan in their crucial must-win match.

"That was a really solid performance," Wright told BBC Sport. "We knew what we had to do - go out and win - and we were on it after one shot.

"We still have a long way to go. We have to play solid this week every game is so hard. You have to keep putting big performances in and that was this morning."

    Men's team pursuit

Gold for Norway! They have defended their Olympic title in style!

Fourteen seconds was the difference in the end, that is absolutely humongous for a gold medal final.

The Russian Olympic Committee set an Olympic record in their semi-final but it looked like they were low on gas here.

They belatedly upped their tempo but it was far too late. The Norwegians were just too good.

  12. Bronze for USApublished at 08:46 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2022

    Men's team pursuit

Impressive stuff from the USA, they finish 2.81 seconds faster than the Netherlands to comfortably take bronze.

The Netherlands were always behind and looked to have one eye on the mass start event towards the end.

I need to take a breath after all that drama. I haven't got long through because the men's finals are coming right up.

It is the Netherlands vs USA for the bronze medal match, with the Russian Olympic Committee taking on Norway for gold.

    Women's team pursuit

Oh my word what a finish!

Japan - the reigning Olympic champions and world record holders - looked all set for gold but Nana Takagi slipped and fell on the very final bend.

That opened the door for Canada who held it together and crossed the line in a new Olympic record time of 2:53:44!

The Canadian team whoop in delight, they cannot believe it.

It is tears and heartbreak for Japan though. They had the gold in their grasp but it slipped away right at the last second.

  15. Netherlands take bronzepublished at 08:31 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2022

    Women's team pursuit

    It's bronze for Netherlands!

They better their quarter-finals time to finish 1.79 seconds quicker than the Russian Olympic Committee, but the lack of real celebrations shows how they expected much more from this competition.

Canada face Japan for gold shortly...

This is what that Great Britain win does to the table.

Crucially it lifts them above Japan but they will still almost certainly have to win their final two games to reach the semi-finals

Satsuki Fujisawa tried to salvage that end and hands GB two and the victory.

That brings their record to four wins and three losses with - on paper - easier games against China and ROC to come.

They're in a decent position to make the semi-finals, you have to say.
