Women's gold-medal match: Great Britain 3-1 Japan (after four ends)

Here comes Eve Muirhead with the first of her two shots at the end of the fifth end. Curling just wide of the centre, it leaves two yellows around the button.

Satsuki Fujisawa has two attempts to create something for Japan, but the first is just lacking some weight.

    Four-man bobsleigh

In case you were too hooked on the curling to follow Team GB's four-man bobsleigh on its third run, here it is.

Unfortunately, it wasn't quite the blistering time Brad Hall and his team wanted, or needed.

Joseph Rendall: The Ashes was a waste of my very early mornings, this however is not... what am I going to do when the Olympics are over???

Dan Townend: Curling is like other sports, but just better in every way.

Women's gold-medal match: Great Britain 3-1 Japan (after four ends)

"The line's good, the line's good" Eve Muirhead calls. The GB skip's first shot doesn't quite go as deep as she would have liked, but it offers extra protection.

Japan are hoping to force Britain to take one here - and they succeed. It's a 3-1 lead for GB, but Japan take the hammer.

A win for Jen Dodds, Vicky Wright, and Hailey Duff would mean gold at the first attempt at the Olympics. Quite something.

But for Eve Muirhead, there have been plenty of ups and downs over the course of her four Games.

Having needed hip surgery at the start of this cycle and faced doubts about whether she would ever make it back to the top, she's now a few hours away from potentially clinching her lifetime goal of a gold medal.

Women's gold-medal match: Great Britain 2-1 Japan (after three ends)

So, it looks like a medal is beyond the reach of GB's four-man bobsleigh team.

But is it going to be gold or silver for the women's curlers?

We're heading towards the business end of the fourth end, as Vicky Wright places a central guard to add further protection to the yellow lurking on the button.

You cannot overstate just how fast the bobsleigh goes past when you stand next to the track and how thrilling it is to witness. What you see on TV is nowhere near as fast as what it really looks like!

First you can hear it on the track overhead and then it comes catapulting past. You wouldn’t even have to blink to miss it.

    Steve Cram

This is a very good start that is continuing for Great Britain.

They take the hammer into the fourth end and they’ve turned it around to have the hammer in the even ends which is always good if it carries through to the finish of the match.

Great Britain are in a really good position, they’re playing well.

They look comfortable and happy out there, all good.

It's hard to underestimate the importance of getting two in that first end. Both for confidence, and scoreboard advantage.

It allows GB to control the game. We saw just how hard it was for Bruce Mouat's team to come back against Sweden yesterday.

Women's gold-medal match: Great Britain 2-1 Japan (after three ends)

It's a blank third end, which allows GB to keep the hammer as they hope for a better situation next time around.

Team Muirhead remain one up. So far, so good.

Can Team Muirhead add to their early advantage here and really put the pressure on Japan?

Japan have two reds in the house, but Vicky Wright sends both spinning away with a superb shot! Really nicely done.

Another good end for GB who posed plenty of problems for their opponents. They'll have the hammer next.

Ever wondered how you actually get up to the start of a sliding track? It’s not glamorous.

It’s a very steep winding road and this US team didn’t stop to give me a lift.
