Drama! Switzerland's Ariane Burri punches the air in celebration to cap a great run - and it has put her into the final qualification place with one rider to go.

Can Urska Pribosic deny her? 65.55 required.

Bianca Gisler of Switzerland can't improve either.

It's just been shown that New Zealand's Cool Wakushima will not take her second run, so we have two riders left to go - and the top 10 have all qualified.

A nervous few minutes ahead for Japan's Reira Iwabuchi and the Netherlands' Melissa Peperkamp in 11th and 12th respectively...

That is a really bizarre run from Brooke Voigt - her head was not in it from the start.

It's really hard - you turn up at the Olympics - do you stay a pack rider, or do you ride beyond your abilities?

Right then, down to the final five.

Brooke Voigt knows what she has to do, but a poor start puts her off and the Canadian is down. That looked painful. Huge disappointment.

Annika Morgan could put the cat among the pigeons...

She is almost better tucking her head in and getting into a huge spin.

Right now the bubble score is creeping up.

    Women's slopestyle qualification

This will be from Annika Morgan, however!

She throws a switch backside 360 into the mix, it's a nice, clean run, and a 67.63 puts her 10th.

That puts Melissa Peperkamp into the final qualification place, making 61.26 the score to beat...

Belgium's Evy Poppe raises the bar for qualification! A 56.80 bumps Miyabi Onitsuka out of contention.

American Courtney Rummel will be next to challenge... A frontside 180, just missing the front 360, it's not going to be enough.

I just caught up with Katie Ormerod in the mixed zone. Here's what she had to say:

"It feels amazing to be able to call myself an Olympian. I've been waiting years to finally say that, and to drop in and compete at an Olympics, it feels really special.

"I'm really happy with my runs today. It's been a really challenging and difficult course to master, so just to be able to put a full run down and it's exactly how I wanted it as well, so I couldnt be any happier with my riding.

"The snow is definitely a lot more challenging than real snow, because of just how firm it is. I made it work today so I'm really proud."

Canada's Jasmine Baird can't sneak into the top 12, and its the same result for the Czech Republic's Sarka Pancochova.

Japan's Miyabi Onitsuka continues to cling on to that final qualification spot with a second run score of 50.18.

A big moment for Dutch 17-year-old Melissa Peperkamp now.

An opening 61.26 has her in 10th place and vulnerable... it's good but there's no improvement. She'll have to hope it's enough.

Can Julia Marino recover from her nasty fall in her opening run?

Oh she really can. From a 2.91 and last place to 71.78 and sixth place. Superb response. 10 to go!

Reira Iwabuchi needs a big run here...

Japan's Reira Iwabuchi gives herself a great shot at the final with a 67.00. Nicely done.

Laurie Blouin of Canada gives a big thumbs up as she learns she's improved to a 71.55 for sixth place, pushing Iwabuchi down to ninth.

We've got a real fight on our hands for the final positions.

    Men's downhill training cancelled

The final training session before Sunday's men's downhill race has been cancelled because of high winds. The racers have managed to get in two solid training runs but after three skiers went down the course on Saturday - Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, Christof Innerhofer and Matthias Mayer - the jury decided to abort the third training run.

"The jury could see from the skiers who came down that the gusts of wind were too strong, so after two highly successful training sessions previously, and in the interests of athlete safety, the decision was taken to cancel training," Jenny Wiedeke of the International Ski Federation, said.

France's Lucile Lefevre is left devastated as her challenge comes to an end. Head in hands, she suffers another fall on her second run to leave her well adrift of contention.

48.35 is the score to beat for a place in the final, with half the field still to have their second run.

The 17-year-old Kokomo Murase, ahead after the first round, improves to a 81.45 to take second place behind Zoi Sadowski-Synnott. Those two have really hit the ground running today.

Hailey Langland is (for now) in the finals... but Katie Ormerod is not.

I think she will be disappointed having had so much success in the World Cup, but she wasn't able to do it today.

  17. Ormerod misses out on finalpublished at 04:21 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2022

    Women's slopestyle qualification

Hailey Langland does what she needs to do.

A big 900 to finish helps the American pull a 68.71 out the bag.

Unfortunately, that also means Great Britain's Katie Ormerod will not be in the final. She did, though, make her first Winter Olympics after overcoming so much adversity.

Finland's Carola Niemelae improves in her second run, but a 38.43 won't trouble Katie Ormerod.

Norway's Hanne Eilertsen, in 11th, can't improve either and also faces a nervous wait to see if she'll make the final.

The USA's Hailey Langland is up next. A real threat to Ormerod.

There are three or four elements Katie Ormerod cleaned up on but she had that mistake at the start on the rail.

She has an excruciating wait now as 24 other riders have to go.

Nice and smooth from Katie Ormerod, with just an early rail error.

Another straight backflip, this time a little tidier than last, and plenty of air on her final jump - not to mention how well she held it.

Oh, but it'll only be a 44.01 from the judges!

This is going to be an agonising wait for the Briton - and the rest of us - as we wait to see if that first round score of 47.38 is enough to keep her in 12th place.
