Aspinall retains title via no-contest
Aspinall will retain his heavyweight title but this is not the way he wanted to do it.
Gane is crestfallen. The Frenchman is down on his knees and can't believe how this fight has ended.
Aspinall isn't happy either.
The stadium has fallen quiet. Disappointment all round.

"I can't see mate," Aspinall tells the referee and it's waved off as a no-contest.

There are some nervous murmurs from the crowd around me here. This would be such a shame for the fight to finish this way.

"I have no immediate concerns about the globe," the cageside doctor tells the referee.
Aspinall does appear to have concerns, though.
The referee has also just been heard saying "no-contest, unintentional".
That's how this fight will end if Aspinall can't continue.

This fight is going to end this way. He literally just said that he can't see again.

Aspinall appears to be telling the doctor "I can't see".
Both his eyes were poked by Gane's fingers but it is his right eye that has come off worse.
This fight might be called off early.

Aspinall's nose is pretty leaky. He's eaten a number of jabs.

The blood coming from Aspinall's nose is now smeared across his face.
Aspinall attempts a kick but Gane throws a punch and his extended fingers rake across both of the Mancunian's eyes.
The referee calls timeout and the doctor is in to hand Aspinall a cloth. He'll have five minutes.
It does not look good for the champion here.

Aspinall looks like he's got more of a battle on his hands than he's used to.
Gane is light on his feet, skipping from side-to-side and Aspinall is struggling to find a moving target with great success or power.
The Frenchman looks the looser of the two. Aspinall looks a little rigid.
Aspinall tries a spinning attack and misses. The pair smile and touch gloves.

Aspinall has some blood coming from his nose after one of those earlier shots. Is this the first time he's been bleeding in the UFC?
A lovely jab from Gane but Aspinall responds with a kick down the middle.

I expected a lot of outside movement from Gane, but he is getting right into it.

Gane lands a couple of early low kicks but Aspinall comes charging through and finds a home with a one-two.
Gane shows he has decent hands too and comes back with intent.

Aspinall tends to put his arm out and reach for his opponents shoulder in the final face-off but he doesn't do it this time.

Ciryl Gane doesn't seem too bothered by the boos as his credentials are read out by Bruce Buffer.
Gane, who looks like one massive muscle, bounces up and down before turning to the camera and pointing at his gumshield, which sports his nickname 'Bon Gamin'.
