If Biles did have a niggle, it was hard to tell... she has just done her Biles II vault - the Yurchenko double pike.

She took a big step back but it still scores a huge 15.800.

Britain's Mike Bargeron has missed out on a place in the men's 10m air rifle final.

Bargeron, from Bromley, finished 47th with a score of 620.7.

Argentina’s Marcelo Gutierrez & China’s Lihao Sheng joint-top scored with 631.7 as they secured their places in tomorrow’s final.

Attention for Bargeron, who is head of shooting at Sevenoaks School in Kent, now turns to the men’s 50m three positions competition event next week.

GB through to women's four finalpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 28 July

    Easy as you like!

Team GB, favourites for the gold medal, cruise through to the final of the women's four.

The quartet are unbeaten this year after winning two World Cups and the European Championships. They certainly laid down a marker here.

They are joined in the final by New Zealand, with China, USA and Denmark heading into the repechage.

We will keep an eye on Simone Biles and bring you any news as we have it. She has got vault up next, another apparatus with a heavy landing, so we'll have to see how she gets on.

Some were suggesting she might have been overwhelmed by all the cameras that are circling her.

Biles is 'definitely limping'published at 11:36 British Summer Time 28 July

    Louis Smith MBE
Medal winning gymnast in three Olympic Games on BBC Radio 5 Live

She [Simone Biles] took about four seconds during that floor to lay on the floor which raised my eyebrows and then she took a seat on the step. She is definitely limping and may be working her way through a little niggle. She waved to the crowd and I think that could be a psychological compensation to say everything is alright.

Convicted child rapist Steven van de Velde made his Olympic beach volleyball debut to a mixed reaction in Paris, with audible boos.

Van de Velde was sentenced to four years in prison in 2016 after admitting three counts of rape against a 12-year-old British girl.

He and volleyball partner Matthew Immers are ranked 10th in the world but lost 2-1 to Italy's Alex Ranghieri and Adrian Carambula, ranked 25th, at the Eiffel Tower Stadium.

The pair were introduced to the crowd together, with cheers as well as some boos as they walked out.

There were boos, along with applause, when Van de Velde was individually announced to the crowd before the match began.

All players shook hands before and after the match.

  11. Triathlon in trouble?published at 11:30 British Summer Time 28 July

    Harry Poole

    River Seine

As you may have seen, the planned swim training for the triathletes this morning in the River Seine could not go ahead after the heavy rainfall of recent days impacted the water quality.

Organisers remain confident the quality will improve before the men’s race scheduled for Tuesday morning.

Preparations are under way on the river at Pont du Alexandre, where the triathlon swim legs are due to start, with course buoys waiting to be taken out.

On the bridge itself remains a large spectator stand, offering a prime viewing spot of the start line.

Fingers crossed everything can go ahead as planned. Although, when I spoke to GB’s Georgia Taylor-Brown earlier this year, she said it was unlikely to be worse than the quality of a lot of the waterways triathletes often have to put up with…

Simone Biles did step away with the physio for a bit but I don't think there was anything wrong. There was a camera right in her face, they are all over her, so I think she just wanted to get away from that for a bit and I don't blame her.

'You just want Biles to enjoy this'published at 11:26 British Summer Time 28 July

    Matt Baker
    Gymnastics commentator on BBC TV

Absolutely wonderful, it's just so good to see her back. It's like she hasn't taken a moment away from the gym, just incredible. It's not just being back and doing all of this gymnastics, all of the eyes are on her.

There are at least 15 cameras on her. Everyone is standing up an she steps up. Just on a human level, how is she coping? There is Snoop Dogg here, Ariana Grande, Tom Cruise.

She is here to write a different ending to the one that was written in Tokyo and she has done it already.

You just want her to come back and enjoy this, you don't want her to feel all of the other stuff that is added on.

Biles delivers on floorpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 28 July

    She's back, all right!

My word, the height she gets on those tumbles is just unbelievable. There's a step over the line after one landing and a couple of jitters but the moves are so difficult, so it's not that costly.

    It's a big, big score of 14.600.

    Simone Biles watch!

Here's that stunning beam routine from earlier, and she's now up on the floor.

USA's Jade Carey took a big fall after one of her tumbles so a high-scoring effort from Biles here will be very gratefully received.

The last of the British interest in the pool this morning was in the men's 100m backstroke and I have good news.

Ollie Morgan and Jonny Marshall have both made it through to tonight's semi-finals.

Morgan, who has risen from relative obscurity over the past 12 months to break the British record and qualify for these Games, was third in a stacked heat that included the two fastest men in the world this year.

He was 11th-fastest overall. Marshall snuck through in 16th, the last remaining slot.

Most of the events at the Games have areas outside the venue where you can have a go at the sport yourself.

I stumbled across this one on my way out of the archery.

Now you might be thinking, surely it's those ones you mess around with as a kid with the little sucker on the end fired out of a plastic bow onto a sticky target.

I can confirm, it is not. No, you can fire an actual arrow from an actual recurve bow.

Granted the distance is nowhere near as far as the pros and there are people on hand to prevent the chance of you taking someone's eye out. But I will be steering clear of this area for the foreseeable...
