    Adrian Moorhouse

It was a fascinating start. Off the start, Richards had a great reaction to the gun but Rapsys came back so late.

It was Hwang who took them out but it was both Richards and Hwang who finished fourth and fifth in the end, I believe.

It was a great finish from Hobson. Richards just got a critical arm over there to finish fourth-place.

Frustration for GB's Matthew Richards, who slips to fourth in that final 50m.

He's going to have a nervous wait as he watches the second semi-final.

Fellow Briton Duncan Scott goes in lane seven in that one.

Paul: What a ridiculous game of tennis. That was boss.

Gregcoles: Wow Murray and Evans. That was amazing. Usual Murray magic

SJL: That come back from Evans and Murray is something else.

Who writes his scripts? It was almost inevitable.

They were awful for the first hour and then - bit by bit - they got their game together. Of course, when it mattered, they produced.

It doesn't stop from a British perspective.

Up next in the pool is the men's 200m freestyle semi-finals.

Matthew Richards is in semi-final one. Duncan Scott is in the second semi.

The top eight across the two semi-finals go through.

    China's Zhang Yufei claims bronze.

    Tennis - men's doubles first round: Daniel/Nishikori 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 9-11 Evans/Murray

    Mark Woodforde
17-time Grand Slam doubles champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

Andy Murray has had to accept that his body is just not responding in the way that it used to, in particular this year. He was upset that he could not get himself to play in the singles here, he tried to put himself into the equation but his body was not responding.

But it can in the doubles, and to be able to survive a match like that. We talked about medal prospects, well they are in with a chance for a medal right now.

    Jonathan Overend
    BBC Radio 5 Live commentator

There it is, right there. Saving five match points to win a match at the Olympic Games, unbelievable. So, so pleased for Andy Murray.

They may lose in the next round, it may all be over then, but that was something! And he will take that with him into retirement. Fantastic from both him and Dan Evans.

Murray and Evans look at each other in disbelief.

They don't know what to do for a second.

    You've won, lads!

After a second, it dawns on them and they run straight to each other, jumping in the air and hugging.

That noise when Leon Marchand came home. I am not sure I've heard anything like it.

Spare a thought for Max Litchfield. He has his head in his hands. That's the third time in a row he has finished fourth at the Olympics.

He doesn't want to leave the pool.

    Breaking

    Tennis - men's doubles first round: Daniel/Nishikori 6-2 6-7 (5-7) 9-11 Evans/Murray

Andy Murray will be retiring, but not today. Not now.

Murray and Dan Evans were a set and a break down at 2-0 in the second set, they somehow clawed the match back and won the second set tie-break 7-5.

Then in the 10-point match tie-break, it looked all over with Taro Daniel and Kei Nishikori 9-4 ahead and with FIVE match points.

Yet somehow Murray and Evans, showing incredible character, come back from the brink, winning the match tie-break 11-9.

    Sport. Just absolutely brilliant.
