  1. What a showpublished at 23:15 British Summer Time 11 August

A fitting way to end the Greatest Show On Earth.

What an Olympics it has been. Nearly three weeks of brilliant sporting action, great drama, tears, celebrations and amazing stories.

That concludes our coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympics, but don't forget, the Paralympics start in the French capital on 28 August and conclude on 8 September.

On behalf of all the team, thank you for being with us and hope you all enjoyed it all as much as we did.

    Goodbye.

What a way to bring the curtain down on Paris 2024.

I came away from the opening ceremony feeling a little confused but tonight was much-improved and a thoroughly entertaining watch.

A solid 9 out of 10 from me.

There was a little chuckle around me as Thomas Bach concluded his final comments with a slight shrug and remark of: "That's it."

Time yet for a version of My Way - a tune popularised by Frank Sinatra but French in origin. Naturally, the phone torches are being waved.

    All together now...

    Regrets, I've had a few

But then again, too few to mention

I did what I had to do

And saw it through without exemption

    I planned each charted course

Each careful step along the byway

And more, much more than this

    I did it my way!

The flame is extinguished and we're coming towards the end of this closing ceremony.

It was meant to be done 30 minutes ago but Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre are worth waiting for.

The emphasis returns - briefly - to Paris, and it's that man again.

"Lé-on! Lé-on! Lé-on!" shout the French fans as multi-medal-winner Léon Marchand appears with the Olympic flame.

Out it goes, and that - formally - is that.

The French crowd have been right behind Leon Marchand throughout the Games and he gets another amazing reception in the Stade de France.

Can't wait to see him again in Los Angeles.

That's all from Los Angeles as we head back to the Stade de France and Leon Marchand has finally made his way back to the stadium with the flame.

Maybe should have taken a taxi?

These acts are fab, but it's so odd to me that they aren't at the stadium. It's killed the vibe for me completely.

It's looks a beautiful day on Venice Beach but there's a strong wind as Snoop Dogg attempts to fly the Olympic flag and is almost lifted clean off the stage.

Should be a good spot for the kite surfing in 2028 at least.
