British – Men’s 4x200 freestyle relay retaining their title with the same four men. A seriously impressive gold medal and such a great race.

Internationally - we have a new superstar of the swimming pool. Léon Marchand is now a global superstar winning four golds and one bronze. Two of those gold medals were won in the same night.

It's been a privilege over the last fortnight to roam the French capital asking what Parisians have made of the Games.

As well as some spectacular feats from the pros, I was struck by all the amateur acrobatics I saw back on day one when the cycling time trials snaked through the city and residents tried to get the best view they could.

Lamp posts, cycle stands, bins, post boxes: it seemed there was no piece of street furniture that spectators were unwilling to climb to catch sight of the action. Not to be tried at home.

It was fascinating to see how many of the city's residents changed their minds after that opening ceremony. As one man told me: he'd been "grumpy" but was soon filled with the Olympic spirit of bonhomie.

The Golden Voyager is glad to have all his alien friends on stage now as they are very kindly helping to assemble the Olympic rings, but not until they've had a roll around in them.

I guess he needs to be grateful for the help?

You didn't think it was going to that straightforward, did you?

Benjamin Bernheim was accompanied by Alain Roche and his floating piano.

Roche also looked to be wearing some bin bags.

Budget not stretch for his outfit?

Favourite moment I watched live - Bryony Page winning trampoline gold. Her surprise and sheer delight was joyous, to top her superb and rightfully triumphant routine. And now she's off to join the circus!

    My moment of the Games

    Chris Boardman
    Olympic cycling champion

Women’s cycling team sprint. Three rides, three world records and the opening gold for GB on the track.

But most enjoyably, the trio was led off by Katy Marchant, who only returned to racing in 2023 after having her son, Archie. It’s stories like this that make it fun to watch and about more than winning.

Performers take to the stage during the Olympic closing ceremony

Night has fallen here in Paris, and a real hush has fallen on the stadium, too. This ceremony - so carefully masterminded by artistic director Thomas Jolly - has just taken a turn for the sci-fi.

The phone cameras are out as we progress into this (checks notes) "dreamlike quest to the very foundations of humanity".

If you missed our entry at 19:57, a reminder that French dancer Arthur Cadre is the man in the Golden Voyager suit.

Cadre was approached by artistic director Thomas Jolly on Instagram eight weeks ago and he's the star of the show tonight.

Our Golden Voyager is no longer alone.

They have been joined on stage by some acrobats dressed as aliens?

The music is tense and the dance moves are questionable.

Maybe we are starting to get towards the levels we saw in the opening ceremony.

Second album syndrome is a big issue for musicians - trying to follow up that breakthrough debut with something even better.

I'm wondering if the organisers might be struggling with that issue tonight?

Topping that opening ceremony was always going to be tough.

Still a while to go, though.

The Greek flag has just been attached to a pole and handed over to our Golden Voyager, who stabs the base into the ground and we're treated to a light show.

    Here come ours masked individual.

In fact, we've got two of them!

I felt let down that we didn't discover who it was at the end of the opening ceremony. Are we going to find out tonight?

That would be my "moment of the Games".

We had the joy of watching a masked woman show off her best Parkour through the streets of Paris with the Olympic torch in the opening ceremony.

Tonight... we have the golden voyager.

They have just descended down from the top of the Stade de France.

It's a remarkable outfit and is bringing back memories of the one boxer Deontay Wilder wore when he made his ringwalk to face Tyson Fury in 2021.

The Stade de France in darkness

Oohs and aahs as this great sporting cathedral is plunged into darkness for the next stage of the ceremony.

I could look at the programme notes to see what's next - but it feels more fun to wait and see.
