Oh my goodness, that was pretty tense for Andy Murray and Dan Evans trying to close that set out. Having to chase and fend off break points in that last game, but some brilliant serving from Evans does the job. Murray did so well at the net all the way through that set.

The Belgian team may bring their level up in the second set, even still the Brits will be very happy to have taken the first set.

Numbers are not brilliant. There aren't too many opportunities, but 19 winners to 10. Andy Murray and Dan Evans have been the more aggressive pair.

    How about that then?

Murray and Evans look a much better pairing than the other night - and they had to be against the Belgians.

    So far, so good.

The Brit Bros saved three break points split across the start and end of the set, while taking the chance which they created in the second game.

The obituary of Sir Andrew Barron Murray doesn’t need to be updated quite yet.

Is it Daniel Wiffen's time to make history?

It's been 36 years since an athlete from Northern Ireland won an Olympic gold medal.

In just a few minutes, the 23-year-old has a huge chance to change that.

He's the reigning world champion and was the fastest in the heats. Is this his time for Olympic glory?

Dan Evans and Andy Murray are halfway to the quarter-finals

It came after Gille and Vliegen earned a break point, with a furious Evans chucking his racquet to the ground in annoyance. But Evans sent in a strong first serve to see off the break point.

The Brits then earned a set point, but an Evans double fault came at the worst time possible. It didn't matter though as Evans and Murray then crafted a second set point and this time took it.

When you are swimming that well your opponents can't do anything about it. Kaylee McKeown put in an outstanding swim there. Regan Smith must be disappointed, she was leading quite a bit of that race. When the race is that tight and that close you can feel it. But it was a brilliant swim from McKeown.

The iconic Louvre Pyramids had not finished being constructed the last time an athlete from Northern Ireland won an Olympic gold medal.

It's been 36 years since Stephen Martin and Jimmy Kirkwood won hockey gold with Great Britiain, and 52 years since the last individual gold when Lady Mary Peters won the pentathlon in 1972.

That's where the golden honours list ends- but that could change tonight.

Ireland swimmer Daniel Wiffen is the favourite in the 800m freestyle after winning World Championship gold in the event in February and he set the fastest time in the heats yesterday.

He won't have it all his own way, but is this his time?

Jack McMillan will also be a medallist at the Games if Great Britain finish in the top three of the 4x200m freestyle relay.

He is watching the final from the stands, but he will still receive a medal after helping the team to the fastest time in the heats earlier today.

It could be a historic night in Paris.

The fastest 15 times in history are shared by USA's Regan Smith and Australia's Kaylee McKeown.

Smith is the world record holder and has just come out in a duffel coat and gloves!

McKeown is the Olympic record holder.

You want to see Andy Murray extend the epilogue if only that his storied career does not conclude in a half-full stadium.
