    Team GB's gold medallist Nathan Hales, speaking to BBC Sport after his success in the trap men's final: "I cannot quite believe it. An amazing experience and it has been unreal. It was very difficult all the way through, but I tried to stay grounded and stuck to my routine. I used breathing techniques that I do with my psychologist."

    On setting a new Olympic record: "I didn’t quite realise that until someone mentioned it - it is great. I could hear plenty of shouting and it just spurs you on a bit more."

    On winning Great Britain's first shooting Olympic gold since 2012: "A dream come true and something I set out 10 years ago to achieve. I worked with Peter Wilson, who was London’s gold medallist, on the build-up over the last couple of years which has been a great help."

    Great Britain's Nathan Hales has added another gold medal to the leaderboard for Team GB and to top it off the 28-year-old has set a new Olympic record with 48 out of 50.

    Hales started his shooting career alongside his father at only five years of age. He qualified for the 2024 Olympics at the 2022 World Championships in Croatia where he won a silver medal in the men's individual trap event.

    Although Hales has set a new record at the Olympics he was unable to break his own trap men's world record of 49 out of 50, which sealed a gold medal at the World Cup in Lonato, Italy in 2023.

    In case you missed it earlier on, gold medal number three is in the bag for Great Britain with Nathan Hale setting a new Olympic record after hitting 48 of 50 shots in the final.

    Hale was pushed for large periods by China's Qi Ying but remained calm under pressure to take gold on his Olympic debut.

    Men's BMX freestyle qualification

    Great Britain's Kieran Riley sealed his place in Wednesday's BMX freestyle final in stunning fashion earlier.

    He topped the standings with an average score of 91.21 across his two runs.

    Australian Logan Martin, who took gold at Tokyo 2020, and home favourite Anthony Jeanjean.

    The final is scheduled for 13:44 BST tomorrow.

    You're going to be bored of me saying it by the end of the week but that was another wild atmosphere at La Defense in support of Leon Marchand.

    There is someone up to my left holding a huge cardboard cutout of his face.

    He gives a little clench of the fist after winning the heat. The crowd chant his name again. The drummer bangs his beat.

    He'll be back again later for the breaststroke semi-finals don't forget.

    China's Pan Zhanle wins the second semi-final in a time of 47.21 seconds.

    A time of 47.94 seconds from Germany's Josha Salchow is enough to be eighth quickest across the two semi-finals and seal the last spot in the final.

    That confirms Team GBs Matt Richards is out of the event and won't be challenging for a second individual medal.

    Richards' 48.09 seconds was 12th fastest.
