Let's be honest. Nobody thought Andy Murray and Dan Evans would be here today when they faced five match points on Sunday night.

And to be brutal, they didn't deserve to be.

But here they are, testament to their refusal to roll over and summoning an inner spirit to complete a miraculous comeback.

Japan's Kei Nishikori losing his way in the match tie-break also helped.

So the retirement roadshow rolls on. Will the curtain come down tonight? Or will the encore continue?

It is bittersweet isn't it? Team GB have come out into this team final and done every single routine clean. There has not been one major mistake, a few wobbles but that is gymnastics. To come out here with the team that they have got, to do every routine clean and to be within two tenths of a bronze medal, it is harsh. However they should be so, so proud of themselves.

You may remember the spectacular sight of the Olympic flame rising into the night sky underneath a hot air balloon just before Celine Dion wowed us at the end of Friday's opening ceremony.

The cauldron carrying the flame is usually scheduled to go up in the air each night from sunset until 02:00 BST and there have been some stunning images captured of it floating above the Paris skyline.

Unfortunately, for anyone hoping to get a selfie tonight... it's not good news.

Organisers says the flame will stay grounded near the Louvre Museum following a thunderstorm alert on Paris.

An orange warning for thunderstorms was issued earlier in the day.

New Zealand have retained their women's rugby sevens Olympic crown with a 19-12 win against Canada.

Canada led 12-7 at half-time but the reigning champions fought back with tries from Michaela Bryde and Stacey Waaka.

The USA secured bronze and their first Olympic rugby sevens medal after beating Australia 14-12.

With Australia closing in on victory, the USA’s Alex Sedrick broke away from the defence to level the scores with a try before clinching the game with a conversion.

Great Britain, who were eliminated by the USA in Monday’s quarter-finals, finished seventh after beating eighth-placed Ireland 28-12.

The Belgian due of Joran Vliegen and Sander Gille reached the French Open final last year and won the Monte Carlo Open title this year, both of those events on clay.

They are very handy, an established team, so Andy Murray and Dan Evans will have to play really well to beat them.

So here we are. The latest ‘last match’ of Andy Murray’s stellar career.

A men’s doubles quarter-final place is at stake on Court Suzanne Lenglen as Murray and Dan Evans take on Belgium's Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen.

It’s a winnable tie but it’s warm here. Us Scots are not built for being outside on a day like this, never mind running around after a fuzzy yellow ball.

    Gymnastics - women's team final

    Louis Smith MBE

Team GB really did not have the strongest qualifying. They had a shaky first few pieces of apparatus and it felt like the other countries really stepped up to perform. They scraped into the final in seventh place but they have absolutely turned up and done their job today. The girls really have been fantastic.

The crowd have absolutely loved that.

What a moment for Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal, they're standing centre of the court, waving to all sides with the Spanish flags flying high. There's a long way to go of course but possibility of the duo facing Britain's Andy Murray and Dan Evans is still on.

The problem is if you play with a superstar – if you win it’s on them and if you lose, it’s your fault.

What you have to love about these two, they could be playing in a club tournament in Mallorca and they’d have exactly the same passion and commitment.
