Another heavy crash takes out two riders - GB's Hamish Turnbull and Germany's Luca Spiegel.

Spiegel fell first and clipped Turnbull's rear wheel, sending him spinning towards the barrier before crashing to the floor.

Both riders get to their feet, albeit a little gingerly. Spiegel gives a wave to the crowd to show he is okay.

Australia's Matthew Richardson, Harrie Lavreysen of the Netherlands and Japan's Kaiya Ota qualify for the final, which will feature GB's Jack Carlin, at 12:32 BST.

Kerenza Bryson is a qualified scuba diver but the swimming is her weakest event.

Unfortunately that showed. She trailed the field by a way and drops to seventh overall before the concluding laser run.

This consists of a 3,000m run, split into five 600m laps, and four visits to the shooting range.

The athletes start with time handicaps – one second for every point they’re behind the leader - which means Bryson has a lot of ground to make up.

I'd suggest that her medal chances are slim.

    Women's modern pentathlon

Right then, this is it for Kerenza Bryson as she goes for the final time in the laser run.

She needs to make up 30 seconds to land herself a spot on the podium.

Is it possible? We'll find out shortly.

And in fact, that's your lot for the snatch.

China's Liwenwen is unsurprisingly first after that massive 136, followed by Park Hye-Jeong with 131.

Britain's Emily Campbell is in third with 126 - a bit of a gap on fourth-placed Lisseth Ayovi on 123.

Campbell is in a good position at the halfway stage.

Jack Carlin is looking very, very good. A reminder he broke his ankle in APRIL!

He cruised to that win and is through to the medal race.

    Absolutely effortless.

There have been plenty of famous faces in the crowd throughout this Olympics and the latest to join the club is former Netherlands and Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

He is in the crowd at the Velodrome in what has already been a busy morning of cycling, including a strong Dutch presence across the cycling events.

Back to the velodrome for the men's keirin semi-finals, with GB's Jack Carlin in heat one and Hamish Turnbull in heat two.

The first three riders from each of the two heats qualify for the final.

Just moments ago Sophie Capewell, who was beaten in the women's sprint quarter-finals on Saturday, won her fifth-eighth race to take fifth place.

    Women's modern pentathlon

It's 267 points for GB's Kerenza Bryson to add to her overall, taking her to 783.

France's Elodie Clouvel leads the way on 844, Hungarian Michelle Gulyas is 13 points adrift in second while South Korea's Seungmin Seong is third on 813.

Bryson needs a huge turnaround in the laser run if she's to win a medal.
