What a noise from the home support!

France's Stephane Landois punches the air in delight as he completes his run, the spectators producing a deafening noise while also banging their feet on the stands.

That is silver guaranteed for France.

    Here we go, then.

Laura Collett and London 52 are on their way to the arena here at Chateau de Versailles, with the gold medal there to be won!

Top seed Iga Swiatek whizzes through her women's singles second-round match to reach the third round.

    Poland's Swiatek, 23, wins 6-1 6-1 against France's Diane Parry.

Swiatek has won four of her five major titles at Roland Garros and the recently-anointed Queen of Clay is the heavy favourite to win Olympic gold.

Next up? Rafael Nadal versus Novak Djokovic.

I’d suspect Swiatek, a self-confessed Nadal fan, will be taking a very quick and racing through her media commitments to get back out onto Court Philippe Chatrier to watch.

'An enduring rivalry ready to resume'published at 12:30 British Summer Time 29 July

    Nadal v Djokovic (12:30 BST)

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Roland Garros

This is one of the sport's most enduring rivalries between two of the greatest players of all-time.

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have met more than any other two men and the pair are ready to resume their long-standing rivalry.

It is the 60th time they meet on the court - and, you would think, likely to be the final occasion.

    So what will happen?

Djokovic, 37, is the favourite on paper. The Serb is ranked second in the world and still challenging for the sport's biggest prizes, as illustrated when he finished runner-up at Wimbledon earlier this month.

Nadal, 38, has barely played over the past couple of years through injury.

But if he has a chance of beating his old foe anywhere, it is here.

Roland Garros, where the King of Clay has won a record 14 French Open men's singles titles, on a hot summer's afternoon is like spinach to Popeye for the Spaniard.

Over on BBC iPlayer and the red button, you can now watch the preliminary rounds of the men’s street skateboarding.

This event was postponed due to rain on day one so the final is also taking place later at 16:00 BST.

USA’s Nyjah Huston has won six world golds and 13 X Games titles, but blew his shot for Olympic glory in Tokyo when he fell four times and missed out on the podium. He and compatriot Jagger Eaton, who almost pulled off the incredible feat of also qualifying for the Park event, will be challenging Japanese skaters led by 14-year-old world number one Ginwoo Onodera, defending Olympic champion Yuto Horigome and current world champion Sora Shirai.

Chloe Brew and Rebecca Edwards finished third in their repechages to make it through to the women’s pair semi-finals.

Britain beat Australia and Italy in their three-boat heat to reach the final of the men's eights. The women's eights were equally successful, winning their heat by more than two seconds to reach Saturday's final.

The hottest ticket in town?published at 12:20 British Summer Time 29 July

Fair enough, I might be slightly biased... but surely this is the hottest ticket in town today?

Judging by the number of signs I've already seen asking for tickets, it has to be.

As soon as I stepped off the metro near Roland Garros I saw Anna Pu from Boston (United States not Lincolnshire) hopefully waiting for someone to come up trumps.

One fella obliges and we follow him towards the stadium... then it turns out he is a tout and wants €450 (£380).

Poor Anna, who is a self-confessed Nadal superfan, gasps. "No, I can't afford that," she sighs ruefully.

Maybe someone reading this on the way to Roland Garros is able to help...

Britain and France are effectively in an arm wrestle for the gold medal.

Tom McEwen has just completed a fabulous round and he knows how important that was for Great Britain. Perfection under the most extreme pressure.

McEwen is bang in the mix for an individual medal as well. It has put Britain right back to the top of the pile.

Britain are looking well placed to defend their title.

You can see what it means to the British team by the side of the course, and there are huge cheers all around from Team GB's strong following who have made the journey out to Versailles for this.

Over to Laura Collett to complete the job - and further her own individual gold medal bid!

This is where the riders and their horses complete their preparations before heading out into the packed arena.

It's where Tom McEwan was just moments ago before aiming to tighten Team GB's grip on the team eventing gold medal, with Laura Collett the 58th and final rider to head out to complete the team jumping.

Ros Canter, after her controversial but ultimately upheld 15 jumping penalties in the cross-country, has already been out this morning, placing sixth so far with four penalties.

After Canter's misfortune on Sunday, host nation France cut Great Britain's lead to 4.7 from 7.4, so there's not much room for error for McEwan and Collett.

But the gold medal is in their hands.

Certainly not the time to have a mare...

    CHEVAL!

    You've heard of zebra crossings...

These volunteers have their work cut out in the heat today. They're in charge of opening and closing the gates to pedestrians whenever a horse is heading out to perform, or returning for a well earned rest.

It's a fine-tuned team effort, with four gates being moved at once to avoid any incidents.

It's a lot of responsibility to be saddled with, that's for sure.

It was more of the same in the individual event for Sheng, who won with an impressive score of 252.2, beating American William Shaner's Olympic record set in Tokyo by 0.6 points.

Sweden's Victor Lindgren won the silver medal after shooting 251.4, while Croatia's Miran Maricic picked up the bronze.
