Pat Richards says winning the Challenge Cup and the Super League title in his final season would be a "fairytale" ending to his time at Wigan Warriors.

The winger, 31, is returning to former club West Tigers in Australia's NRL.

Saturday's Grand Final against Warrington will be the last time he appears for the Cherry and Whites.

"It would mean a lot because I've been at the club for eight years and I've loved every minute of it," Ireland international Richards told BBC Sport.

"To go out on a high by winning the trophy in my last game would be a fairytale. We've got a lot of hard work to over the 80 minutes against a very good team and I'm sure it will be a great game."

If Shaun Wane's men are victorious at Old Trafford, they will become the first side since St Helens in 2006 to complete the double.

Richards continued: "To get an opportunity to play my last game for Wigan on such a big stage - I'm very excited about that opportunity. We're going to throw everything at them and leave with no regrets.

"We've had some really good clashes with Warrington over the last few years. They always throw something up really special."

Richards, who made his Wigan debut in 2006,, external has scored 168 tries in 223 appearances for the Warriors.
