Wigan Warriors centre Anthony Gelling has signed a new four-year deal with the Super League club until 2019.

The 24-year-old Cook Islands international joined in 2011 after starting his career at Sydney Roosters.

He scored seven tries in his 13 appearances this season, but is currently out of action after tearing his hamstring in two places.

"He's a character and you need characters in teams," said Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan.

"He's a great character, but he's also a very good player and we are delighted he's with us for the long-term."
