Huddersfield Giants boosted their hopes of a top eight finish as they beat Wigan Warriors at the John Smith's Stadium.
Sam Tomkins opened the scoring for Wigan but Darnell McIntosh and Alex Mellor broke back for the Giants.
McIntosh crossed over for his second try soon after the break before Leroy Cudjoe further extended their lead.
Tom Davies ran in a late try for the visitors but they could not overturn the Giants' substantial advantage.
The result moves Huddersfield up to seventh and level on points with Catalans, who drew 22-22 against Warrington on Thursday. But they have a four-point cushion inside the top eight with two games to play before the split.
Meanwhile Wigan remain in second place, but lie six points adrift of leaders St Helens, who have a game in hand on Shaun Wane's side.
Wigan, who were missing Liam Farrell, Dan Sarginson, Joe Greenwood and George Williams due to injury, struggled against a Giants side, who have now lost just twice in their past 10 games in all competitions.
After a spell of five consecutive defeats earlier in the season, Huddersfield's turn in form continued with their win against Wigan as they put themselves in a strong position of sealing a top eight place.
Wigan Warriors head coach Shaun Wane told BBC Radio Manchester:
"We didn't respect the ball and came up with too many errors and we didn't give ourselves chances to win the game.
"We still lost by eight points so if we'd been smarter in certain areas of the field we could have won the game.
"But it was still a poor performance."
