London Broncos hooker Bill Leyland has been ruled out for the entire Super League season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The 20-year-old was injured in a pre-season friendly at Castleford last month.

Leyland scored 13 tries in 32 appearances last season as the Broncos were promoted back to Super League for the first time since 2019.

"We are devastated for Bill," director of rugby Mike Eccles said., external

"I think we all knew internally at the club that he was going to set the competition alight this year.

"It's important that we get around him as a club, all the boys, all the staff.

"We'll give him the best treatment possible, like we do here. The best surgery possible."

Leyland came on as an interchange in the Broncos' stunning fightback to beat Toulouse in the Championship Grand Final in October.

Broncos begin their Super League season away to St Helens on Friday, 16 February.

Their first home match at Plough Lane is against Catalans Dragons the following Friday.
