An absolutely bruising 40 minutes of rugby league. Captivating for the neutral, nail biting for those with a stake in this game.

James Batchelor's opener followed by a controversial second try from Joe Burgess on the verge of half-time and Hull KR have a 10-point lead over Warrington.

Wire boss Sam Burgess looks livid. KR coach Willie Peters' face cuts a different image.

A massive second half awaits - can Warrington force a comeback or are Hull KR headed for a first-ever Super League Grand Final?

    Hull KR 10-0 Warrington

10-0 isn't an insurmountable lead. That's what I imagine Warrington will be telling themselves.

And given last week's immense performance in their play-off eliminator against St Helens, we know the Wire are capable of a response or two.

But Hull KR win another set of six deep in the Warrington half after the visitors are penalised. There's still time for KR to force another try.

Did Joe Burgess manage to ground the ball? You be the judge.

The ball certainly looked quite high up in amongst the bodies in his dive to the line. But none of the available camera angles could definitively say it didn't touch down.

Not much comfort if you're a Warrington fan, mind.

Joe Burgess has a big grin on his face.

Whether that's because he's scored or because he's pinched one, I'm not really sure.

TRY: Hull KR 10-0 Warringtonpublished at 34 mins

    Joe Burgess, goal Mikey Lewis

Blimey, what a bonkers half this is.

The try is given! Joe Burgess powered over the line despite Warrington's best efforts and video referee Jack Smith can't find any evidence to overturn Liam Moore's on-field decision.

What a way to score. Hull KR battered Warrington with pace in the build-up and Burgess touched down with two tackles to spare for the hosts.

Mikey Lewis makes no mistake with the boot this time.

I know plenty can happen from here, but Warrington need an enormous response.

  6. 'Inconclusive'published at 20:42 British Summer Time 4 October

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

    John Lawless
BBC Radio Merseyside rugby league commentator

Certainly Hull KR have got over the line but from what we can see is that it's inconclusive.

I don't see how a try can be overturned based on that evidence.

  7. TRY REVIEWpublished at 34 mins

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

Joe Burgess is over and referee Liam Moore is taking it upstairs.

His on-field decision is a try!

Ooh er. Have Hull KR just padded out their lead?!

  8. 'Peters might be disappointed'published at 20:39 British Summer Time 4 October

Hull KR have really got Warrington where they want them.

If the pattern of the game stays like this for the remainder of this first-half, Willie Peters might be disappointed they've only got four on the board.

  9. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

Warrington could do with a response before half-time, really.

Hull KR are giving absolutely nothing away and Warrington are forced into kicking on the turnover pretty deep inside their own half.

  10. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

Hull KR half-back Mikey Lewis is proving to be a handful for Warrington.

There's some more afters as he comes up against George Williams. There's laughter from Lewis, he knows what he's doing after all.

Referee Liam Moore halts play and speaks to Williams and play continues.

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

    My word this is frantic.

No sooner does Matt Dufty have his try chalked off for Warrington do Hull KR race up the other end and Joe Burgess bursts towards the corner but he's held up by the visitors.

That could so easily have been a second try for the hosts!

  12. NO TRYpublished at 30 mins

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

Warrington think they're off the mark. But no dice.

Matt Dufty races through with ease having cut the Hull KR defence to bits. But before he can celebrate, the Wire are correctly held up for obstruction in the build-up.

Mind you, it's quite concerning how easily the hosts fell apart, there.

  13. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

Mikey Lewis is causing Warrington some grief.

There's some afters between Lewis' Hull KR team-mate Dean Hadley and Warrington second rower John Bateman.

It comes to nothing but Warrington surely won't want to let their opponents get into their heads.

  14. Postpublished at 27 mins

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

Nick Pinkney makes a good point, there.

The pace at which this game is being played at is intense. Surely these two sides can't keep this up for 80 minutes.

  15. 'Warrington not looking fluid'published at 20:30 British Summer Time 4 October

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

    Nick Pinkney
Ex-Hull KR captain on BBC Radio Humberside

Warrington, we know how dangerous they are, but they aren't looking that fluid tonight.

They are still feeling the effects of the first 20 minutes but Hull KR have to keep that up.

  16. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

Matt Dufty is wise to an audacious 40-20 attempt from his fellow Man of Steel nominee Mikey Lewis.

Warrington don't look in too bad shape but they will want to keep the Hull KR scrum half close knowing how dangerous he can be.

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

George Williams tries a last-ditch grubber kick as Warrington face a brick wall in Hull KR's defence having won a useful set of six.

But his ball goes dead and Hull KR win back possession.

  19. PENALTYpublished at 20 mins

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

Sensational stuff from Toby King as Warrington race up field.

He links up with Matty Ashton and the Wire gain a lot of ground but, in the build-up, Peta Hiku tackles George Williams off the ball and concedes a penalty.

Now it's Warrington's turn to try and respond courtesy of a penalty.

  20. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Hull KR 4-0 Warrington

How important will that missed conversion from Mikey Lewis be?

He was well placed but swiped his kick wide of the posts.

Hull KR lead by four. Surely Warrington will fancy their chances of levelling up having started so positively.
