    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

Harry Newman frantically tries to claim St Helens should concede a goal-line dropout rather than a 20-metre restart as the ball goes dead.

Play is held up as it's checked on the replays. And Newman's wrong, Saints didn't make contact with the ball before it went out.

Not that this really matters a great deal as Leeds are well and truly in control of this game at the minute.

  2. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

Mark Percival seems to have walked off that injury for the time being and play continues.

But he's limping a bit as the game gets going again. I wonder how long he'll be able to go for.

  3. Postpublished at 46 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

St Helens have knocked on again.

And Mark Percival seems to be injured in the process as Harry Newman inadvertently bends his lower leg backwards in a scramble to the ball.

Saints' carelessness is really costing them this evening.

  4. NO TRYpublished at 45 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helrns

Jonny Lomax and St Helens' challenge is successful.

Morgan Gannon is correctly judged to have barged into Lomax rather than leaving space, meaning he was unable to defend the play which led to Ash Handley going through.

  5. TRY REVIEWpublished at 45 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

Leeds are over through Ash Handley but Jonny Lomax has challenged the call.

    We're going upstairs!

  6. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

Tristan Sailor has dropped the ball and knocked on.

No challenge from St Helens even though TV replays show that Cooper Jenkins probably gets a hand on it.

Leeds win the ball back inside the St Helens half.

The opening three sets has just been about the arm wrestle.

Both sides have decided to tuck the ball up their jumper and play out their sets.

  8. SECOND HALFpublished at 40 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

Right then, back under way at Headingley.

Can Leeds see this game out or will St Helens pull together a comeback to ensure that they meet Hull KR in next week's semi-final?

Well, if Saints do win, they'll have to do it without Matty Lees. He's had to leave the ground at half-time as his wife's gone into labour!

Some better news for Saints is that Daryl Clark has passed his HIA.

In case you missed it, some news from last night to bring you at half-time in this game.

Hull KR half-back Mikey Lewis signed a new five-year deal on Friday to remain with the club.

The 24-year-old won last year's Steve Prescott Man of Steel award and is one of three nominees for this year's prize.

The England international has scored 526 points in 129 appearances for the Robins and helped them win the Challenge Cup for the first time since 1980 in June.

"I feel like the east side of Hull have really brought me in as one of their own. The city and the club mean everything to me," he said.

"I want to create my own legacy here at Hull KR and win trophies with the team I've got around me."

Leeds deserve to have that six-point lead. They were certainly resolute in the first 10 minutes defending their own tryline and then came away and responded superbly well.

The two tries Leeds have scored have been absolutely outstanding and Saints got that fortunate try.

In the last seven or eight minutes both teams got a bit frantic trying to chase points instead of keeping their discipline with and without the ball.

I'm sure that's the message Brad Arthur will be giving to his players for the start of the second half.

    Alan Hunte
Ex-Great Britain winger on BBC Radio Merseyside

Leeds have been the better team, they've been the more dominant team, the more fluent team.

Fortunately for St Helens it's been the game they needed it to be, which is one that they can hang in there, try to defend and take an opportunity.

  13. Half-timepublished at 20:48 BST 27 September

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

That brings down the curtain on a frantic first half.

Boos ring around Headingley but I'm not fully clear on why. Leeds have played well. St Helens less so.

But the game's in the balance and we're in for a huge second half.

  14. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

Leeds regain possession right as St Helens were in the thick of an attack and had plenty of tackles in their locker.

And it's - again - come off the back of Jonny Lomax cheaply giving the ball away.

  15. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

    Oh dear.

Jonny Lomax looks to offload as St Helens get to within 10, but he sends the ball straight into the arms of Jake Connor.

  16. captains challenge

    Captain's Challengepublished at 35 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

    Challenge successful.

Harry Newman is judged to have scooped the ball out of Tristan Sailor's hands and St Helens get another set of six in a dangerous area.

  17. captains challenge

    Captain's Challengepublished at 34 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

St Helens can't take advantage of their set of six and seemingly knock on.

But have they? They're challenging the call.

  18. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

Cooper Jenkins has just gone in high again!

This time he's gone in on Matty Lees.

The Leeds man is warned. You'd imagine he'd have been more careful given that incident with Daryl Clark a few minutes earlier.

  19. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

Daryl Clark has come off for a head injury assessment in the aftermath of that high arm from Cooper Jenkins.

  20. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Leeds 12-6 St Helens

    Dear oh dear.

Leeds' Sam Lisone comes charging in as the Rhinos look to build another attack and he cheaply knocks on.

To be honest, the tempo this game is being played at is probably the cause of a lot of these errors.
