TRY: Wigan 4-0 Hull KRpublished at 23 mins

    Bevan French

Bevan French, that is absolutely outstanding!!

The Australian number six receives the ball just inside his own half, but he spots the tiniest of gaps, throws a dummy to Mikey Lewis and that is enough.

He bursts through it, going this way and that at top speed before sliding over the tryline.

That was rugby of the highest, highest quality.

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

Mikey Lewis tries a little grubber kick through on the fourth tackle, but Wigan full-back Jai Field takes no chances and kicks it behind the goal.

The Warriors will have to kick possession back to Hull KR, though.

This opening 18 minutes is as intense as it gets.

Every single player is putting in the hard yards both in and out of possession.

  4. 'Will Nsemba loss affect Wigan?'published at 18:23 British Summer Time 12 October

Former Hull KR winger on BBC Radio Humberside

    Frantic.

Really intense opening to the game from both teams.

We will see how that substitution affects Wigan. Junior Nsemba has been outstanding for the Warriors but Hull KR can't let that affect them either.

  5. Substitutionpublished at 14 mins

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

    Junior Nsemba's evening is over.

The good news, as the Old Trafford crowd acknowledges, is that Nsemba is able to get to his feet and walk off the field.

The bad news is that with head injury protocols, Nsemba must now sit out the rest of the match.

Liam Byrne is on in his place.

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

    That is a big tackle.

James Batchelor takes down Junior Nsemba and the Wigan forward has stayed down. Replays suggest his head crashed against the floor in the impact.

The physios and medics are on.

  7. 'Great energy from Hull KR'published at 18:18 British Summer Time 12 October

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

    Luke Adamson
Former Salford player on BBC Radio Manchester

This is what Hull KR did phenomenally against Warrington last week.

They dig deep, they managed to make their way out their own half.

Territorially, they've certainly had great energy from this Hull KR side.

That might not have been given but there's no doubting the finish from Mikey Lewis.

Hull KR like to score early this season and whether or not that was given, that's set a marker.

  9. NO TRYpublished at 11 mins

And the on-field referee's decision is confirmed - no try.

Mikey Lewis puts up a huge teasing kick. Tyrone May competes in the air with Abbas Miski, and the ball goes loose.

Lewis is on to it and touches it down, but May is adjudged to have knocked the ball on.

Hull KR's moment of glory is dashed.

  10. TRY REVIEWpublished at 11 mins

    Wigan-0-0 Hull KR

Mikey Lewis thinks he has scored the first try of the Grand Final for Hull KR.

    We are going upstairs.

The on-field decision is no try.

  11. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

That is a beauty of a kick from Harry Smith, but it's just short of being a 40-20.

There is a brief stoppage for Elliot Minchella to get patched up as a bit of claret pours out of his head.

The skipper doesn't fancy leaving the field!

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

Early minutes of Grand Finals are all about hard yards and crucially, no mistakes.

Each side have completed their sets, put in good kicks and chased hard. But there has been no chink from either team.

A real arm wrestle at this moment.

Interestingly, both defensive lines are very tight, allowing them to put numbers into the tackle.

  14. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

Another set from Hull KR ends with Mikey Lewis launching another kick into Cherry-and-White territory where Abbas Miski catches it.

Wigan's set also ends with a kick that puts Hull KR winger Joe Burgess under it, but he deals with it well.

Those of you obsessed with scrutinising attendances will be unhappy/happy (pick your poison) to learn that it genuinely looks packed here at Old Trafford.

Not a great deal of empty seats visible and I'd be surprised if tonight didn't comfortably surpass recent Grand Finals in years gone by.

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

The Robins put up a solid set, no frills before Mikey Lewis launches a deep kick into Wigan territory off the last tackle.

Jai Field catches it and sets off on Wigan's first use of the ball.

  17. Postpublished at 1 min

    Wigan 0-0 Hull KR

Wigan's Harry Smith puts boot to ball and we are away.

Hull KR, in their changed colours of navy blue, get the first set of six.

Wigan v Hull KR (18:00 BST)

    Andrew Henderson
Former Scotland international on BBC Radio 5 Live

Wigan realise the occasion but the importance for Matt Peet is his calmness.

Cool heads are needed in big games. He'll want them to stay cool, calm and collected so they can execute the game plan.

Rob Burrow after the 2011 Grand FinalImage source, SWPix

This is the first Grand Final since the passing of Rob Burrow in the summer.

Few players lit up the Old Trafford stage in quite the same manner as the little number seven for Leeds Rhinos, who was a winner on no fewer than eight occasions.

He was twice player of the match in 2007 and 2011 and scored one of the all-time tries in the Rhinos' win over St Helens.

To pay tribute to Burrow's brilliance as a player and his bravery in dealing with MND, the Harry Sunderland Trophy for the player of the match has been renamed the Rob Burrow Award.
