In the aftermath of that frantic 30 seconds or so, Warrington win a penalty.

Marc Sneyd stands over it and, as expected, successfully sends it through the posts.

Warrington have a two-point lead, but should it have been at least four, or six?

    Warrington 6-6 St Helens

Wow. Matty Ashton spins out of a tackle and runs almost the length of the field before he's eventually brought down by a try-saving tackle by Jack Welsby.

In all honesty Ashton should have easily been able to run in from there.

Warrington have the tackles still in numbers and are camped in Saints' 10 but eventually the visitors break on the counter before play is stopped for offside.

It is seriously warm down there, very hot.

St Helens' George Delaney cheaply knocks on as he attempts to roll the ball behind him.

Jeers ring around from the Warrington supporters. Their side win a valuable set around halfway.

    Some injury news for you.

St Helens' Mark Percival has failed his HIA (head assessment injury) and will play no further part today. As such, Saints have activated their 18th man, meaning James Bell is available.

Meanwhile, Warrington are hopeful Paul Vaughan will be able to return despite his nasty-looking finger injury.

Right then, it's time for the men's Challenge Cup semi-final draw.

What ties can we expect in the final four?

Former England football captain - and Warrington fan - Stuart Pearce will be drawing some numbers alongside BBC pundit Jon Wilkin.

For me I think St Helens will be going in the happier

It's been a great first half, Saints are in control of where this second half goes.

I think if they tighten up with the mistakes then they can have a huge say in what happens.

There are some huge hits going in.

Neither side is willing to give an inch.

A stunning half of rugby league if you ask me.

All square, plenty going on at either end, two teams at their absolute peak and entertainment in spades.

Tristan Sailor's quick thinking has neutralised Matt Dufty's earlier try for the Wire.

A big second half awaits. Can St Helens pick up where they left off after that end to the first half?

TRY: Warrington 6-6 St Helenspublished at 37 mins

    Tristan Sailor, goal Jon Bennison

Sensational! St Helens send a kick through the posts and Tristan Sailor spins the ball over and the visitors strike just before the hooter!

It's sent upstairs and video referee Tom Grant eventually gives it. I'm not sure why that needed to be referred as it looked fine on field to me.

Either way, Jon Bennison kicks the two and we're all square right before half-time.

I think Warrington will be disappointed with some of their final play so far.

That being said has been a ferocious encounter and the hits are flying in now.

    Warrington 6-0 St Helens

Jonathan Davies has just described this game as ferocious during our commentary on BBC Two.

I think that's about the right sort of word.

Some huge hits and some immense defensive work going on so far.

No surprise with Wingfield failing the HIA.

He did not look great, he was out cold on the pitch.

    Warrington 6-0 St Helens

St Helens interchange Jake Wingfield, unsurprisingly, has failed his head injury assessment and won't play any further part in today's game.

    Another blow for Saints.

There's been a couple of times Warrington have looked a little messy on the attack.

They need someone like George Williams to take the game by the scruff of the neck and say I'm going to score a try myself.

The St Helens defence is doing well so far.

  19. Substitutionpublished at 33 mins

    Warrington 6-0 St Helens

St Helens' Mark Percival does indeed come off for a head injury assessment.

He doesn't look too good in all honesty.

Daryl Clark comes on in his place for the time being, and receives some boos, having previously played for Warrington.

  20. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Warrington 6-0 St Helens

Aaron Lindop tries to spin and collect a loose ball as Warrington work the ball wide to try and force their second try against St Helens.

He collects it alright, but spills it and knocks on moments later.

In the aftermath it looks like Saints' Mark Percival's taken a bit of a hit in the build-up. Dazed, he's marched to the sidelines as well. It's been a heavy hitting half for the visitors.

Should he come off for a HIA, that'll be the third assessment of the half for a battered and bruised St Helens.
