This is the first real attacking position for Warrington now, this will be interesting to see what they do.

    Warrington 0-0 St Helens

10 minutes gone and Warrington attempt to build their first real attack in this game, with most of the play being contained within their own half so far.

The Wire aren't the only side challenging with some impressive defence today as Saints keep them within their own half on the turnover.

But an uncharacteristic mistake from the visitors follows, as Dayon Sambou and Mark Percival combine to knock on deep in their own half which gives the Wire another set in a useful area.

    Warrington 0-0 St Helens

Warrington's Arron Lindop successfully catches a high St Helens kick on the turnover, shortly after a Saints pass had looked to have gone forward.

The referee doesn't penalise them however but credit should be given to Lindop - that was an impressive collection given just how bright the sun is shining today.

Everything Saints are doing right now is right out of the book

They're putting good pressure on and keeping Warrington within their own 40 metres of the pitch.

They're dominating and looking the more threatening, they're in great shape and looking to move the ball.

    Warrington 0-0 St Helens

St Helens look threatening and have dominated possession since kick-off, but Warrington look immensely well organised.

Every time Saints get anywhere near the Wire's 10, they're well pegged back by a wall of Warrington defence.

We had a stop-start opening 20 minutes or so in yesterday's Hull derby. But the opening of this tie is much more high tempo.

    Warrington 0-0 St Helens

St Helens decide not to go for two points from the high shot on Matt Whitley and instead fancy their chances.

They work it laterally from right to left and some heroic Warrington defences plunges the visitors in to touch and the attack is neutralised.

In the mean time, the BBC's pitchside reporter Tanya Arnold informs us that Paul Vaughan's finger requires some further treatment and he's gone down the tunnel. We'll bring you more news on that when we hear it.

  8. 'Massive blow for Warrington'published at 14:35 British Summer Time 6 April

That is a massive blow for Warrington with Paul Vaughan going off.

They are just looking to settle into the game and need their best players on the field.

    Warrington 0-0 St Helens

This is a pretty impressive start from St Helens.

They almost find a pathway to the line early in the game through Matt Whitley, but he's taken down by a high shot and Saints win another set of six deep in Warrington territory.

    Can Saints prosper?

Warrington's Paul Vaughan is on the receiving end of a late St Helens hit.

In return he has a pretty mangled finger for his trouble. Play briefly stops as one of the physios tries to strap it up but when things get going again it's clear he can't continue in the short-term so he walks to the sidelines.

The close-up from the TV feed makes it look pretty gruesome indeed.

Here's how the two teams line up for today's Challenge Cup quarter-final.

Matty Ashton comes back into the side for Warrington today as he's partnered in the centres with Rodrick Tai.

Marc Sneyd, who had a tremendous game against Saints last time around on his Wire debut, maintains his partnership in the halves with George Williams. Will Sneyd prove the difference once more?

Curtis Sironen comes into the St Helens line-up with Matt Whitley as the visitors look to avoid a second defeat by the Wire in two weeks.

Warrington: Dufty; Lindop, Currie, Tai, Ashton; Williams, Sneyd; Musgrove, Walker, Vaughan, Holroyd, Fitzgibbon, Harrison.

    Interchanges: Powell, Yates, Philbin, Crowther.

St Helens: Welsby; Bennison, Whitley, Percival, Sambou; Sailor, Lomax; Walmsley, Mbye, Lees, Sironen, Batchelor, Knowles.

    Interchanges: Clark, Paasi, Wingfield, Delaney.

  15. 'These games are decided by fine margins'published at 14:24 British Summer Time 6 April

Warrington v St Helens (14:30 BST)

St Helens come into today's tie after they brought home two points from a thriller in Perpignan, during which Jonny Lomax scored the winning drop-goal against Catalans.

Paul Wellens' side have come off second best against Warrington in recent times, but he believes they will have learned from their experiences.

"We know they're a quality side who are very well coached and we're going to have to play well," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"We've been on the wrong end of the results recently but when you look at the last two times we've played them, one was a golden point victory for them in the play-offs last year.

"The other one a couple of weeks ago was a 14-12 victory which indicates that there's not a lot between the two teams.

"Quite often these games are decided by fine margins. We're prepared for what will be an extremely tough game but also they're a team where we believe we can go there and win."

  16. 'Not a lot will change' for Saintspublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 6 April

So we know Warrington won't change their approach today, but what about St Helens' plans?

Saints boss Paul Wellens was more reserved.

"You learn lessons from every game but in particular when you play teams repeatedly in a short space of time which ourselves and Warrington have, you try and find little ways where you feel you can get joy," he said.

"They will be no different. Not a lot will change from both teams in terms of personnel but no doubt there will be a few tactical tweaks here and there because teams get a good look at what you're doing and see how they can exploit that.

"You need to be adaptable and do things a bit different and you might get some results from it."

Since these two sides last met two weeks ago, Warrington went on to beat Leeds while St Helens pulled off a thrilling 14-13 win at Catalans.

A path for Warrington to reach the final for the second successive season rests on winning today, and boss Sam Burgess believes his side will be well prepared when they take to the field.

Burgess told BBC Radio Merseyside: "There's been a game in between where we've learned a few more lessons so we're just constantly trying to grow.

"The moments on the field will define the result. The cup has got a brilliant way of making moments happen. Those moments will come and in our preparations it's just whether we take them or not."

Warrington Wolves will not change their approach against St Helens in today's Challenge Cup quarter-final having beaten them in Super League only a fortnight ago, boss Sam Burgess says.

The Wire will take on Saints today for the second time in as many weeks, in the second of three meetings in a month, as they face off again on 24 April.

Burgess' side edged out St Helens 14-12 in a thrilling league encounter on 21 March.

"There's a bit more on the line because it's the quarter-final of the cup. We understand the weight of the result," Burgess told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"The approach is the same. The game was two weeks ago, we've taken our lessons from that and I'm sure they have."

Let's throw things back to yesterday, shall we?

Hull KR reached the Challenge Cup semi-final after beating city rivals Hull FC in a thrilling derby despite losing influential half-back Mikey Lewis to injury.

After a cagey opening 15 minutes, during which Lewis limped off, the Robins led when Tom Davies went in at the corner.

Joe Burgess added to their tally moments later and Jack Broadbent gave them a three-try advantage at the break, with Burgess again registering after their return for the second half.

Lewis Martin and Herman Ese'ese touched down to get Hull FC going after Jez Litten had added a try to his goal tally but KR held out to ensure a stunning derby win at the home of their rivals despite Zak Hardaker's late cameo.
