  1. '12 points unfair for Wigan'published at 16:09 British Summer Time 8 June

I think Warrington have come away from everything they've done well this season.

They've looked really disconnected in defence and in attack, they've lacked a bit going forward.

I think 12 points is unfair for Wigan because they are playing a lot more than that and they are just not managing to complete.

  2. 'Warrington only have themselves to blame'published at 16:09 British Summer Time 8 June

    HT: Warrington 2-12 Wigan

Former Leeds Rhinos captain Jamie Peacock speaking on BBC One:

"Warrington have only got themselves to blame when they are sat in there at half-time.

"They have been impatient with the ball, they have been loose with the ball, they have been indisciplined and made too many errors.

"Wigan have shown their big game experience. It's about patience and exectuion and having a high percentage of completion.

"It's about doing the small things right."

Today's Challenge Cup final has been a fitting stage for rugby league to pay tribute to the late Rob Burrow.

The 41-year-old died on Sunday having lived with motor neurone disease (MND) since being diagnosed in late 2019.

A fascinating end to the first half - just as it started - with the officiating team in centre stage.

I'm pretty sure both the two early yellow cards were plain daft, just as the disallowed try was correct. But was it for the right reason?

Bevan French's elbow hit the deck and it appeared a double movement - but they rolled it on from that to judge on the grounding and French surely got downward pressure.

There is bafflement in the Wembley pressbox.

  5. Try time for Wiganpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 8 June

    HT: Warrington 2-12 Wigan

Bench French, as he so often is, has been at the heart of everything for Wigan today.

He teed up the opening try and then added the second.

I think that [no try call] has kept Warrington in the game.

It's a tough call. At real speed, I'd like to give that but I think they've got to go with the on-field decision.

    A let-off for Warrington.

It's been a captivating final at Wembley so far.

It started with fire and brimstone stuff as both teams had a player sin binned in the first three minutes. Wigan's Mike Cooper was marched first before Matt Dufty followed soon after.

Tries from Zach Eckersley and Bevan French after that has put Wigan 12-2 up at the break.

  8. NO TRYpublished at 39 mins

    Warrington 2-12 Wigan

And that effort from Bevan French doesn't count, as it was clear there was double movement as he reached over the whitewash.

  9. TRY REVIEWpublished at 39 mins

    Warrington 2-12 Wigan

And just as I write that, Wigan are over the try line for a third time and we go to the video referee again.

The on-field decision from referee Chris Kendall is no try.

    Warrington 2-12 Wigan

Wigan are the ones to get overexcited with the line in sight, and fumble their latest chance to cross the whitewash.

Warrington seem to have got away with one there, but George Williams then goes for an audacious pass to get a Wolves attack started.

It instead hands possession back to Wigan.

The Warriors now have a chance to snatch a very late try before the break.

  11. 'Flawed Warrington'published at 15:52 British Summer Time 8 June

    Warrington 2-12 Wigan

Warrington's at nine errors to three on the error count and it's just highlighting where the flaws are.

It has gone rather quiet at the Warrington end - although not to my right among the Wigan ranks, who have been serenading their neighbours by readapting the words to the old "Oh Warry-Warry . . . Warry-Warry-Warry-Warrington" song.

Maybe a bit early to start taunting.

But you can hardly blame them feeling so euphoric after those two moments of Bevan French magic.

Wigan in control. But there's a long, long way to go though.

  13. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Warrington 2-12 Wigan

Warrington have come at Wigan from right on their try line after Matt Dufty took another of those high bombs from Harry Smith.

And with a penalty going their way, Wigan get pinned back on their try line for a fraction of a second. The kick through on the last is mopped up and Wigan survive the momentary scare.

  14. 'Warrington over-trying'published at 15:49 British Summer Time 8 June

    Warrington 2-12 Wigan

    Micky Higham
Ex-Wigan & Warrington hooker on BBC Radio Manchester

This game has gone pretty quick, hasn't it?

I think Warrington are doing some things that they are probably not supposed to be doing but also that they haven't practiced doing and sometimes you can over-try.

Stick to the systems that you've done all week.

Brian Noble is not kidding about the end-to-end nature of this half so far.

The difference right now is that Warrington are rushing to every sniff of an opportunity and wasting them in the process.

  16. 'Fatigue will take toll'published at 15:45 British Summer Time 8 June

    Warrington 2-12 Wigan

    Brian Noble
Former Great Britain coach on BBC One

This is a quick game for both teams. Both teams are getting down and getting up really quickly and it's going end-to-end.

    Fatigue will take its toll.

  17. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Warrington 2-12 Wigan

Warrington make an absolute mess of that opportunity to attack Wigan from inside their own half.

Rather than try build steady pressure, they rush things as they try unpick Wigan's defence in a hurry.

The end result is a knock-on and possession handed back to the Warriors.

  18. 'Wigan turning up'published at 15:43 British Summer Time 8 June

Wigan are just working through the processes. They are turning up on those little one percents that you need to and ultimately that's what goes on to win games.

Warrington need more fight about them.

  19. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Warrington 2-12 Wigan

Wigan's Liam Farrell fumbles the ball as he tries to play it after a tackle.

It hands Warrington a real chance to try turn the tables on Wigan after being put under ceaseless pressure by the Warriors.

  20. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Warrington 2-12 Wigan

There is some real need for Warrington composure now.

They rattle though a calming set, and when Wigan next come at them in attack a high kick from Harry Smith is easily defused.
