Graham Dawe rules out return to Plymouth Albion as a scout

Dawe was sacked as Albion boss in November after 13 years

Former Plymouth Albion boss Graham Dawe says he would not go back to the club as a talent scout.

Albion chairman Graham Stirling told BBC Radio Devon on Thursday that he would never "close the door" on Dawe, who was sacked last November.

"Graham's been extremely good at talent spotting and maybe that's an area where he might be able to help us," he said.

But former England hooker Dawe told BBC South West that he would not consider a scouting role "in isolation".

"It has always been my intention to help the club as much as I could and that's not changed," Dawe said.

"My involvement with the club has got many possibilities but I don't think I would consider it (a scouting role) in isolation, not at this present time."

Dawe is a major shareholder in the club and joined the club as a coach in 1999.

He was sacked in November and replaced by former Exeter Chiefs boss Pete Drewett.

But the sponsorship for Drewett's role ended abruptly and he was forced to leave the club, with coach Nat Saumi taking charge of the side.

"It would be good to keep an association with him in the future," Stirling said.

"The door's open, but in terms of coaching and heading up the rugby, that's Nat's job at the moment and hopefully next season."
