Plymouth Albion move resurrects Herbie Stupple's career

Plymouth Albion flanker Herbie Stupple says joining the Brickfields club has resurrected his rugby career.

The 21-year-old former England Under-19 international joined Albion from Exeter Chiefs on a permanent basis after spending last season dual-registered with the Championship club.

"Last year was the first time I got loaned to a Championship side," he told BBC South West.

"It was probably one of the best things I could have done."

Stupple played 22 times for Albion last year, scoring in their loss at Cornish Pirates on Christmas Eve.

He had previously had spells at Taunton and Redruth and played 10 matches for Exeter in the European Challenge Cup, LV= Cup and the British and Irish Cup.

And he says Albion's team spirit has been great for his game.

"I won Young Player of the Year, which helped me a lot with my confidence, as I didn't have a lot before.

"I was let go so I was really happy to be asked by Plymouth to come and start with them.

"I got welcomed as soon as I got here. Everyone welcomed me in, they're a great bunch of lads.

"I've never really had that so much in a club before, and I got really attached to the players and when you enjoy being at a club it makes you play better as well."
