Ulster's Nick Williams has completed a remarkable double by winning the Irish Rugby Union Players Association's Player of the Year award.

The number eight added the award, voted for by his peers, to the Pro12 Player of the Year accolade he won on Sunday.

He becomes only the second overseas winner of the award in 11 seasons.

Craig Gilroy won the Try of the Year for his outstanding touchdown against Argentina on his Ireland debut at the Aviva Stadium last November.

Connacht's highly-rated back three performer Robbie Henshaw lifted the Young Player of the Year award, which is now named in honour of Nevin Spence.

Williams was recognised by his Irish peers in Dublin on Wednesday night after scoring seven tries in 21 appearances in his debut season with Ulster.
