Wasps have scored 89 points in their two games at the Ricoh Arena, including three tries for Joe Simpson

Wasps' Joe Simpson scored two of his side's five tries as the Ricoh Arena's new landlords cruised to another bonus point victory at their new home.

The hosts' entire back row also got in on the scoring act as Wasps claimed their third straight Premiership win.

Flankers James Haskell and Ashley Johnson also crossed, as did number eight Nathan Hughes, while Andy Goode kicked another 16 points.

Sale's late try came from Andrei Ostrikov, converted by Danny Cipriani.

Joe Ford also kicked three first-half penalties for the well-beaten visitors, who suffered a fourth defeat in five games.

The one apparent disappointment might have been the attendance of 15,343, almost halving the 28,254 - a Premiership record for a regular home ground - who rolled up for Wasps' triumphant arrival at the Ricoh Arena before Christmas.

But, in icy temperatures, it was still the Premiership's second biggest gate of the weekend - and more than Wasps' tenants Coventry City's average attendance this season.

After an early exchange of penalties between Goode and Ford, Wasps pierced the overhead gloom at the frozen, foggy Ricoh by claiming the day's first try.

Christian Wade's right-wing break made the space for skipper Haskell to score in the corner.

Goode kicked that one too and, although Ford cut the lead to 10-6 with another penalty, Wasps' back row again clicked when number eight Nathan Hughes scored to the right of the posts.

Goode added the extras, only for Sale stand-off Ford to reply with another penalty, which made it 17-9.

But Goode's second penalty stretched Wasps' lead before it became a match-winning advantage with scrum-half Simpson's try before half-time.

Bradley Davies stole the ball and Simpson smuggled himself over the line totally unopposed from 25 yards out with a blindside break.

The second half then began in similar fashion when the darting Simpson weaved his way through the Sale back line from 20 yards out to claim his third try in two games at the Ricoh, Goode converting from close to the posts.

A push-over try for flanker Johnson followed, Goode adding his fifth conversion, with Ostrikov's late try little consolation for the visitors.

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young told BBC Sport:

"It's a pretty happy camp. You're never going to get a totally perfect performance, but there were an awful lot of positives to take, especially from our back row and from Christian Wade, who was outstanding.

"It was good that we could empty our bench with still 25 minutes to go, to give the lads who have not been playing much some game time, while at the same time looking after one or two of the ones who have played a lot lately.

"The crowd was excellent again. It's phenomenal the way the public have come to support us from within the Midlands. We just have to keep giving them a reason to keep coming down to watch us."

Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond told BBC Sport:

"We were beaten comprehensively all over the park - and that doesn't happen to us very often.

"We weren't the normally abrasive side we like to be, but you have to give Wasps credit. They were brutal at the maul and dominant when they had the ball.

"We have no excuses. Really, we just weren't at the races and we didn't deserve to get anything."
