Glasgow Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend described his side's hard-fought victory over Ospreys as one of the club's best wins in recent years.

Warriors' patchwork team came from behind to edge the Welsh side 19-16 at Scotstoun and remain top of the Pro 12.

"The players have got an abundance of character," Townsend said.

"I think that's our best win definitely of the season - probably of the last couple of years, considering the challenges we had this week."

Glasgow were missing 22 players through injury and international commitments and Townsend was delighted with the performances of his fringe players.

"Young players really stepped up today," he told BBC Scotland. "Fraser Lyle, in his second appearance at this level, was outstanding.

"Ali Price I thought was playing fantastically well until he cramped up.

"To go behind against a really experienced team and come back and win is a great feeling.

"Some of the rugby we played in the first 20 minutes was top drawer and then we had to win a different way and we ground that out."
