Scotland's Finn Russell will have his appeal against a two-week ban heard in London on Wednesday.

Russell was hit with the suspension by the Six Nations disciplinary committee following a challenge on Wales' Dan Biggar that was deemed "reckless".

The 22-year-old was yellow-carded for the tackle and Scotland conceded 10 points while he was off the field, eventually losing 26-23 on 15 February.

Should the ban stand, he will miss Saturday's home match against Italy.

His hearing will take place before an independent Six Nations appeal committee.

A statement from the Six Nations read: "Finn Russell has appealed against the decision of the independent Six Nations disciplinary committee to find that he had committed an act of foul play, namely a dangerous tackle of an opponent in the air in the RBS 6 Nations match between Scotland and Wales on 15 February 2015."

After imposing the ban, the Six Nations disciplinary committee described the Glasgow Warriors player's actions as "reckless rather than deliberate".
