Henry Cavill: Superman actor to attend Jersey rugby match

Superman actor Henry Cavill is to attend the annual rugby union match between Jersey and Guernsey next month.

Cavill, who was born in Jersey, is a keen supporter of the island side who play in the Championship, the second tier of English rugby.

The two islands play for the Siam Cup, which is one of the oldest trophies in world rugby.

"You'll find me about the grounds and clubhouse throughout the day, hopefully with a pint in hand," said Cavill.

They have only conceded three tries in their last five games against their rivals, who play in National Three London and South East, three divisions below Jersey.

Cavill, who , external has been to Jersey games before, and was part of the crowd for a pre-season friendly with Premiership club Leicester Tigers in 2013.

"We've been hoping that Henry would be able to find room in his busy schedule to make it back to his home rugby club," said Jersey chairman Bill Dempsey.

"We're anticipating a big crowd and a fantastic atmosphere."
