Cornish Pirates have signed scrum-half Jack Oulton from Exeter's academy.

The 19-year-old featured in the Chiefs' LV= Cup campaign in 2013-14 and also played in the Premiership 'A' League.

He also gained experience of senior rugby at Launceston after a spell on dual-registration at the National Two South club last season.

Oulton joins the Pirates' Player Development Foundation, which was set up last year to increase the number of young players at the club.

"Jack has been on our radar for about 18 months and we are very pleased he is the first addition to the 2015-16 PDF programme," said director of rugby Ian Davies.

"I'm sure Jack's game will really benefit from being with us and under the watchful eye of (coach) Gavin Cattle."
