Cornish Pirates: Winning run halted by Yorkshire Carnegie

Cornish Pirates lost for the first time in 2016 as they went down 33-26 at Yorkshire Carnegie in the Championship.

Despite leading 18-5 in the first half, and being three points up at the break, Yorkshire came back in the second period as the Pirates had to settle for a losing bonus point.

"We're disappointed to lose, but the endeavour was there," said Davies.

"To score the last points just shows the determination in the squad to get something out of every game."

Pirates forward Alex Cheesman scored the opening try of the match, as well as the final one, as their five-game winning run in the league came to an end.

"We're aspiring to be a top-four side and we've got to be more clinical and more efficient in what we do, so it is a marker for us looking forward," Davies added BBC Cornwall.

"We've been on a good run, had some good fortune and some good results, but today we've come unstuck - but we've got a losing bonus point.

"A slightly closer scoreline would probably be a truer reflection, but Yorkshire deserved to win."
