Chris Wyles' two tries against Sale were his first scores in the Premiership this season

Sale's Danny Cipriani missed a late conversion as the Sharks shared the spoils with Premiership leaders Saracens in a 10-try thriller.

Sam James, Jonny Leota and Tom Arscott crossed to put Sale 17-0 up before Jim Hamilton's try and Chris Wyles' brace gave Sarries a 22-17 half-time lead.

Danny Cipriani kicked three penalties to edge Sale ahead again.

Nick Tompkins and Mike Ellery scores restored Sarries' lead, only for TJ Ioane and Arscott to rescue a draw.

The lead changed four times during the game, with Saracens doing enough to go seven points clear at the top of the table, while Sale momentarily moved to sixth in the standings after keeping their 10-month unbeaten home record intact.

Saracens, who have seven players on England duty against Ireland in Saturday's Six Nations match at Twickenham, have now won just one of their last three Premiership games.

Having trailed to three Sale tries in the first 16 minutes, defending champions Saracens responded with 22 unanswered points before the interval, with captain Charlie Hodgson contributing five before limping off injured.

Wyles' second try to edge Sarries ahead on 38 minutes was unpopular with the home crowd, with the score given by the television match official despite replays appearing to show the winger was taken in touch.

Cipriani restored Sale's advantage with three penalties, only for breakaway scores from Tompkins and Ellery to open up a 10-point Saracens lead with 10 minutes remaining.

However, with Ioane seemingly doing enough to at least grab a try-scoring and losing bonus point for Sale, there was still time for Arscott to restore parity with two minutes remaining.

Cipriani, however, could not land the winning kick.

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond:

"I was delighted, particularly with being 10 points behind with 10 minutes to go.

"I was really pleased with the last 15 minutes, it showed a lot of character. We were playing it out wide and scored a lot of good tries and Will (Addison) and Mike (Haley) were trying their best.

"In the last five games I think we've scored 19 tries and that's what we're good at doing so we will carry on in that vein."

Saracens boss Mark McCall:

"Overall, we've got to be satisfied to get three points at a place where a lot of teams have struggled this year.

"Especially after we were 17-0 down, I thought we showed some good resilience and character to come back into it.

"I guess the only disappointing thing was that when we got to 36-26 up, which seemed remarkable given the start we had, it was a little bit disappointing to let them back in but they probably deserved it on the balance of play."
