RFU Championship: Jersey 0-34 Yorkshire Carnegie
- Published
Jersey's best Championship campaign came to an end with a whimper as the islanders were trounced by play-off bound Yorkshire Carnegie.
First-half tries from Jarad Williams, Joel Hodgson and Oli Goss put the visitors in control.
Andy Saull, Taylor Prell and Pete Lucock went over to complete the win.
Despite the loss Jersey finish in the top half - in sixth place - for the first time, while Carnegie remain third and march on to the play-offs.
With captain Alex Rae and potentially nine others playing their last league games for the islanders, the majority of the biggest St Peter crowd of the season had been hoping for a winning send off.
Jersey needed a point from the game to secure fifth spot, but went behind when Williams touched down after an interception from fit-again centre Andy Forsyth near the halfway line.
Forsyth was again instrumental in creating the second when he set full-back Hodgson through to score in the corner.
Goss got his side's third to open up a 19-0 lead by half-time and the hosts never looked likely to stage a stirring comeback.
Flanker Saull went over from a maul to secure the bonus-point for Carnegie, who continued to dominate and stop the islanders from building momentum.
Prell, who was found in space out wide, extended the advantage further before Lucock had enough strength to reach the line with the last move of the game to complete a comprehensive win for Leeds-based club.
London Welsh's bonus-point win over Doncaster Knights means Welsh climb above Jersey to finish fifth. Carnegie will face Doncaster in the play-off semi-finals.
