Jersey Reds head coach Harvey Biljon has blamed a number of poor refereeing decisions for his side's narrow loss at Ealing in the Championship.

The island side conceded a last-second try to lose 20-15 in west London.

Dave McKern had a try disallowed as Jersey lost for the first time.

"There were some crucial decisions that the referee didn't want to make, and because of that they stayed in the game longer than they should have," Biljon told BBC Radio Jersey.

The loss saw Jersey slip to fourth place in the division, having won their opening matches against Bedford and Richmond.

"We still had an opportunity at the end of the game that we should have put away and that would have been the game won for Jersey," added Biljon.

"There were moments there that we just couldn't get going, whether it was the refereeing, whether it was the tactics in the breakdown or slowing the ball, I can't tell you, but it was definitely stop-start and we wanted the game to gain a bit of momentum and get going.

"Dave McKern was pretty convinced he's scored the try. Dave was telling us at half time that he'd scored the try. But you've got to put those things behind you straight away and focus on the next job."
