Tyler Gendall's try helped Cornish Pirates to victory at Ealing and moved them up to fifth in the Championship.

Toby May went over in the first half to give Pirates a slender advantage at the interval, and a Jack Arnott score then gave the visitors a nine-point lead.

However, Aaron Penberthy's kicking and a converted Curtis Wilson try edged Ealing ahead after the interval.

With about 10 minutes to go, Gendall scored to move the Cornish side to within two points of their opponents.

Cornish Pirates coach Gavin Cattle told BBC Radio Cornwall: "One thing that's got to be consistent is your physicality and discipline - I know that's a basic thing to say, but they were present and that gives you a strong foothold in the game.

"You're always searching for that perfect performance - it'd be really nice if we could've converted our pressure in the first half and control the second, but we had to do it the hard way.

"What I was really pleased with was our attacking intent - we moved the ball around pretty well, we kicked at the right times and I thought we mixed our game up really well."
