Newcastle Falcons have strengthened their forward pack with the signings of Lyon prop Sami Mavinga and Jersey flanker Gary Graham for next season.

Graham, 24, is the son of former Newcastle prop George, a Premiership title winner with the club in 1998.

Newcastle have also agreed new contracts with tight-head prop Jon Welsh and centre Chris Harris.

The signings of Mavinga and Graham for the 2017-18 season are in addition to deals already confirmed for France centre Maxime Mermoz from Leicester Tigers, Canada winger DTH van der Merwe from Scarlets, Fiji centre Josh Matavesi from Ospreys and his fly-half brother Joel from Redruth as well as number eight Ryan Burrows from Yorkshire Carnegie.
