Dragons blew a commanding first half lead over Zebre to extend their Pro14 losing streak to over six months.

Marcello Violi opened the scoring for the Italian side, before a Jared Rosser hat-trick and a try from Charlie Davies looked to have put the game to bed.

But second half tries from Tommaso Castello, Tommaso D'Apice, Johan Meyer and Carlo Canna put Zebre in front with 10 minutes to go.

Dragons looked to have scored the winning try, but it was disallowed.

Arwel Robson's long range penalty attempt was also unsuccessful which means Dragons suffered a second narrow loss in Italy within the space of a week after losing 29-27 to Benetton Rugby.

Man of the match Jared Rosser scored a first-half hat-trick for Dragons

Bernard Jackman's side are now without a win in the league since September, and have not won on the road in the league in over three years.

Their two points from the game sees them remain above Southern Kings in Conference B, while Zebre remain bottom of Conference A, with a game in hand over Connacht.

The hosts struck first at Stadio Tommaso Fattori when scrum-half Violi finished off an end to end move, but the lead was short lived when wing, and subsequent man-of-the-match Rosser, scored three quick tries to bag a first half hat-trick.

Scrum-half Charlie Davies also got on the score sheet to give Dragons a 16 point lead at the break.

Zebre, much like Dragons did against Benetton last week, scored three unanswered tries to put them within two points, before fly-half Canna bundled under the posts and converted his own effort to take the lead.

Dragons looked to have salvaged the win in the dying minutes after crossing the whitewash, but referee George Clancy disallowed the try after consulting the TMO.
