Long-serving Cornish Pirates scrum-half Alex Schwarz is to leave the Championship club at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old former Wales youth international has spent the past six years at the Penzance-based club having joined from Rygbi Gogledd Cymru in 2018.

He has gone on to make 106 appearances for Pirates, who are aiming to finish in a club-record second place in the Championship this season.

"Alex has been a great servant, as having proudly reached his 100-game milestone confirms," joint-head coach Gavin Cattle told the club website.

"He brings tempo to the game, possesses a good skillset - plus being an aggressive character in defence, it is one of his points of difference.

“This season has probably been his best in the number nine shirt and, having been up against some very good scrum-halves in the past, he has always held his own."
