    A final flurry for England?

The hosts bang on the door close to the line and the crowd are baying for another try but Italy stem the tide and win the penalty at the breakdown.

    Just seconds remaining now.

I have been disappointed that England have been unable to maintain the level of that good stuff we've seen.

There has been a handful of opportunities were England have had so much forward momentum yet they manage to slow their own ball down.

As the game nears its conclusion, England will be pleased with claiming the bonus point and showing plenty of edge in attack.

Ollie Chessum is awarded man-of-the-match by ITV for his tireless display at the breakdown and in the loose.

  4. English dominance continuespublished at 73 mins

    England 42-24 Italy

England's record 80-23 win over Italy in 2001 is not in danger of being broken, but it's going to be a 32nd consecutive win against the Azzurri.

Italy have beaten every other team in the Six Nations apart from England.

Italy deserve that try as they have not stopped trying to play rugby. England have just stopped playing. It is so frustrating. They are a bit of a chameleon this England side in terms of inconsistency.

Converted Try - England 42-24 Italypublished at 70 mins

    Tommaso Menoncello (con Paolo Garbisi)

Tommaso Menoncello will not score an easier try in his Italy career.

England are caught napping with the scoreline heavily in their favour as Manuel Zuliani makes an excellent break.

He is hauled down just short but Italy move the ball quickly for Menoncello to stroll in.

    Paolo Garbisi adds the conversion.

England look like they have more control, yes it is not a France, Scotland or Ireland, but it can get messy in these types of fixtures.

    England look in complete control.

Talking of the bench, Italy could be forgiven for feeling like they're seeing double.

Tom Curry was influential in the first half and now twin Ben is off the bench and causing a nuisance at the breakdown.

He wins the penalty for England, who can pump the ball deep into Italian territory again.

This is an opportunity for those players off the bench to show the coaches they are knocking on the door to start.

I like your optimism Chester but that would mean England have to score 58 points in just over 15 minutes.

Extremely unlikely, but perhaps still possible...

  13. Replacementpublished at 63 mins

Right on cue, England make the change at number nine as Jack van Poortvliet replaces Alex Mitchell.

A job well done by the Northampton man.

It is very disorganised at the minute with a lot of little kicks or passes where people are getting smashed.

It needs a freshening up at nine and 10.

It's turned out to be a smooth Sunday club in the March sunshine for England.

Steve Borthwick's side have entertained on the pitch but it's all gone a bit flat in the stands.

    England 42-17 Italy

Italy trailed by four points at the break but England have blown them away after the restart.

It's similar to what happened in Rome a fortnight ago when France scored 38 second-half points to move clear of Italy.

You'd have to say this contest is over and England can enjoy the last 22 minutes.

His involvement in Ollie Sleightholme's try is Jamie George's final act in this match.

He leaves the field after winning his 100th England cap to a standing ovation.
