    Paolo Garbisi

Paolo Garbisi is not missing from there. Italy reduce the deficit by three points.

It's been a thoroughly entertaining first half at Allianz Stadium.

Italy look to hit back and Ellis Genge is penalised for sealing off at the breakdown. The visitors point to the posts, straight in front.

Every England player should be giving Ollie Chessum a high five. Two or three interventions there that a second row has no right to do. Great galloping and support play.

Was that the first time I've seen Alex Mitchell take a tap from a penalty for England? Loads of pace.

  4. try

Converted Try - England 21-14 Italypublished at 34 mins

    Ollie Sleightholme (con Fin Smith)

It's a run in for Ollie Sleightholme as England regain the lead.

Alex Mitchell takes a quick tap penalty to add some speed to the England attack and Italy just never get set.

The hosts move the ball wide and Marcus Smith whips it for Sleightholme to cruise over in the corner.

Fin Smith maintains his accuracy from the tee.

    Matt Dawson
Listen to 2003 World Cup winner on BBC Sport website and app

Jamie George is left one-on-on with Ange Capuozzo - only one winner there.

Fantastic support play. Nothing worse than a forward being quicker than a back.

  6. try

Converted Try - England 14-14 Italypublished at 30 mins

    Ross Vintcent (con Paolo Garbisi)

One of the great Italy tries in Six Nations history!

Italy move the ball swiftly off the top of the line-out and Ange Capuozzo just glides through the England defence.

The full-back feeds Ross Vintcent, who has enough gas to run clear and score.

A fine try straight off the training paddock as Paolo Garbisi adds the conversion.

  7. 'That is a stroll in'published at 15:36 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    England 14-7 Italy

    Matt Dawson
Listen to 2003 World Cup winner on BBC Sport website and app

That is a stroll in. I can't get my head around why Italy are so passive in defence.

There wasn't one Italy player in shot when Elliot Daly kicked the ball. That sums it up.

  8. try

Converted Try - England 14-7 Italypublished at 26 mins

    Tommy Freeman (con Fin Smith)

    England's lead restored.

Italy clear their lines but Alex Mitchell keeps the ball in play. The hosts move it wide and Elliot Daly grubbers the ball through for Tommy Freeman to gather and shrug off Paolo Garbisi to dive over.

Italy weren't alert to that at all.

    Fin Smith adds the conversion.

  9. 'NFL quarterback sneak style play'published at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    England 7-7 Italy

    Matt Dawson
Listen to 2003 World Cup winner on BBC Sport website and app

If England are playing Ireland or France, there is no chance Maro Itoje tries to dive over the top of a ruck to score. That was an NFL quarterback sneak style play.

That is not a ruthless mentality like the French.

  10. Postpublished at 25 mins

    England 7-7 Italy

    No, is the answer.

Italy are deemed to have sacked the ball legally. They can clear their lines.

  11. Penalty try for England?published at 25 mins

    England 7-7 Italy

England captain Maro Itoje is held up over the line.

The lock picks up the ball from the base of the ruck and tries to lunge over a couple of Italian blockers close to the breakdown but he is kept up.

Danilo Fischetti looks to be in at the side, though, as the maul edged towards the line. Will we come back for a penalty try?

    England aren't France - it's like a dumpling vs a crepe!

    Nigel from Leicestershire

Can't beat a decent dumpling, just saying...

  13. Missed penalty - Paolo Garbisi (Italy)published at 15:29 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    England 7-7 Italy

Italy have a shot at goal to take the lead but Paolo Garbisi nudges the ball wide.

    We remain level.

  14. 'Marcus Smith is always trying too hard'published at 15:28 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    England 7-7 Italy

    Matt Dawson
Listen to 2003 World Cup winner on BBC Sport website and app

I am looking at Marcus Smith and I just want him to calm down. He has got so much electricity but it feels like he is always trying too hard. He doesn't need to.

  15. Postpublished at 21 mins

    England 7-7 Italy

Ange Capuozzo is electric in open space but the diminutive Italian flier finds himself helplessly headed into a Tom Curry-shaped white wall.

There is only one winner there.

  16. Postpublished at 19 mins

Forward passes being missed by referees and journalists alike. My excuse, though, is that I had my head down trying to type.

Referees and television match officials should be across any forward passes.

I’ve noticed a lot of forward passes this year that aren’t being noticed in the lead up to tries. What’s going on?!

  19. Postpublished at 17 mins

    England 7-7 Italy

England-born Italy winger Matt Gallagher knocks down Tommy Freeman's pass, which would have been caught and scored by Elliot Daly.

Clever work as it's not deemed to be a knock-on.

  20. 'Garbisi read that really well'published at 15:21 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    England 7-7 Italy

    Matt Dawson
Listen to 2003 World Cup winner on BBC Sport website and app

Not only has the midfield changed, but Marcus Smith has come in at full-back, standing a little deep. Paolo Garbisi read that really well to get in behind with a chip.
