    FT: AUNZ Invitational 0-48 Lions

Jamison Gibson-Park is in pole position to start the first Test and Alex Mitchell looked likely to be deputising.

Ben White was a late call up but showed he is now up to speed and more than worthy of a bench spot next weekend.

He was sharp and took his try well.

Andy Farrell said he was "excellent" which shows he is now well in the mix.

British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell was full of praise for scrum-half Ben White but kept it brief about his son's first appearance on tour.

"Owen did OK, yeah?" Farrell said

"There were some great individual performances weren't there. But I thought it was a professional team performance.

"Ben White has only been in a short period of time. It was his first start for the Lions which was a big night for him, I thought he was excellent."

Paul, Marchwood: With Ringrose out, do we see the Scotland centre pairing start the first Test? Does that put Owen Farrell on the bench for 10/12?

  6. 'Right person' will be called uppublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 12 July

    Lauren Jenkins
    BBC Sport at Adelaide Oval

Andy Farrell says the "right person" will be called up if extra cover is needed for Luke Cowan-Dickie.

England hooker Jamie George, who is in Argentina, trained with the Lions in Dublin before the squad departed.

Farrell made clear that geography will not play a part in his decision.

"It looks like we're going to call someone in so we'll make a call over the next 24 hours," Farrell confirmed.

"It'll be the right person for the squad because we're down to the business end of things."

Andy Farrell has confirmed centre Garry Ringrose is out of the first Test.

"He had headaches for a day and they carried on the next day so he went through concussion protocols and he failed those," Farrell said.

"He needs 12 days so that puts him out of the first Test."

    FT: AUNZ Invitational 0-48 Lions

Owen Farrell had to prove he was fit and could still play at this level.

He did not look out of place and helped set up Henry Pollock's try.

If Andy Farrell wants a calm operator off the bench in the first Test then his son showed he can still do it.

But the opposition weren't very strong compared to what Australia will bring.

    He's up and running!

James Lowe is the favourite for the left wing spot.

In response Duhan van der Merwe scored a hat-trick but he did struggled in the backfield at times.

It still looks likely to be Lowe, but Van der Merwe showed if you want a lethal finisher then he is ready.

Good finish to the end of the warm-up games - a good result to finish on before the Tests. The team have lifted the standard knowing what's ahead. It's now the first time they'll have seven days to prep for a game which I anticipate will have a massive impact on them.

The pick of tries? Duhan van der Merwe's second - a good team try where every pass was nailed, something we haven't seen.

  13. 'A good and professional performance'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 12 July

    FT: AUNZ Invitational 0-48 Lions

    British and Irish Lions

British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell, speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought it was a good and professional performance. When you play these types of games and the types of personnel you can face, anything can happen but I thought we played nice, controlled rugby and we didn't let them in the game. We are pleased with our game control.

"We stayed at it, it was never going to be perfect, and kept going as a team, that's the main thing. There were some great individual performances but we gelled well as a team.

"We need to enjoy a bit of down time as it has been full on for 14 days, it has been a tough old block.

"We want people to put their hands up and this group will roll on together and go after the Test series together."

Unbelievable performance today, what a shift from Schoeman, never gets the credit his game deserves, same goes for Hansen and White! This Test series is going to be a belter!

British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell, speaking on Sky Sports about Luke Cowan-Dickie's injury: "He is in good spirits and is back to his normal self, it looked like a concussion so we will have to see what happens after that. We will wait to see what the medics say."

With only two fit hookers in the squad, Farrell said it is "likely" a hooker will be called up for next week.

British and Irish Lions head coach Andy Farrell, speaking on Sky Sports about Garry Ringrose's injury: "It is a concussion from last week, (there were) lingering signs of concussion, he had a headache, and unfortunately he failed that. It is very sad for Garry.

"He'll be back within the rest of the series very shortly but that is the way the game goes. We will see what the fall-out is tomorrow and make some decisions on the back of that."

British and Irish Lions number eight Ben Earl, speaking to Sky Sports: "It wasn't easy but the scoreline probably reflects how well we played, we are really pleased with what we put out there, we didn't have much training so some of the ruthlessness we want to be known for we showed today.

"We have been known for coughing up opportunities in the 22, I'd like to know our conversion rate but I think it was pretty high.

"You can see to a man how much the shirt means to everyone."

On Owen Farrell: "It was like being back at home, hearing him shout next to me, it is amazing to have him back at club and international level, it is so exciting to see what he can do for the group."

Just what the Lions needed after a couple of scratchy games.

A convincing win, no points conceded, and numerous players giving Andy Farrell something to ponder.

Speaking to those within the Lions camp, they are relishing the prospect of getting settled in one city and to have a whole week to plan for the Wallabies.
