As a player, I would want the coaches to give us a couple of points for how we could get back into this game potentially because we haven't had much possession or territory and the amount of tackles this side has gone through (118) in the first half is phenomenal.

Wales don't want to spend that same amount of time defending in the second half.

  4. Replacementpublished at 42 mins

Wales-qualified Cameron Hanekom is on for his South Africa debut.

The light show is starting up again.

Can Wales put on more of a show in this second half?

The teams are on their way out for one last time in 2024.

All of the training work has been done in the week so it's how you get the boys now a little bit more confident and up for the second half.

Maybe that try for Rio Dyer to finish the first half on will help in the changing room to uplift the team, because there is a big 40 minutes ahead.

The first-half stats make for some worrying Welsh reading:

    • South Africa made 291m compared to Wales' 49m.
    • South Africa made 78 carries compared to Wales' 31.
    • South Africa made 10 clean breaks compared to Wales' one.

The Welsh Rugby Union has created a new tradition that will deliver a moment of remembrance and recognition for former Wales internationals, officials and relevant dignitaries who have died in the last 12 months.

It will be held at the final home match of the year.

Remembered today are Ken Rowlands, Kevin Bowring, Alun Carter, Peter Morgan, Ian Buckett, Courtney Meredith, Norman Morgan, John O'Shea, Lewis Jones, Barry John, JPR Williams, Malcolm Price, Brian Price, Bryan Richards, Meirion Joseph, Glyn Davies and Bill Morris.

Wales have hardly had any possession, apart from those last five minutes it's been all South Africa.

The amount of tackles Wales have had to make, 107 tackles after 30 minutes, is ridiculous and the penalty count isn't helping either.

It's releasing the pressure valve for South Africa.

South Africa are making two or three metres every carry and it's sapping the life out of this Welsh team.

It's going to be a hard second half, the amount of tackles they've made already will sap the energy from this Welsh team.

It is overpowering from South Africa and their accuracy is very impressive. Their pass accuracy and ability to pick put players and move the ball to the edge - but also their power up front - has been brutal.

Wales haven't had much ball at all and the amount of tackles this Welsh team have had to go through has been phenomenal.

Wales haven't spent much time in the opposition's 22 but the South African side is lethal in more than one way.

    That was brutal.

South Africa demonstrated why they are the number one side in the world with a relentless first-half performance and showed Wales no mercy.

A fine Rio Dyer finish ended the half for the home side but you fear what might happen when the two sides return in just over 10 minutes.

Really good pace from Rio Dyer.

It was great line speed from South Africa to cut Ben Thomas down but Wales regenerated possession and that's just a one-on-one.

Rio Dyer's gone on the outside, backed himself, lovely try in the corner.
