    Cardiff 7-7 Glasgow Warriors

Johnny Matthews is caught on the wrong side and Cardiff ferociously turn it over.

It's getting a bit rough out there. Let's call it 'passion'.

Anyway, Cardiff are down the pitch and back in Glasgow half.

    Cardiff 7-7 Glasgow Warriors

Johnny Matthews steals a line-out and he's through a tackle, haring away like Brian Habana!

But he's brought down on the 5m. Glasgow get it wide and win a penalty, and unsurprisingly go to the corner. Maybe Matthews will get another chance.

    Dan Thomas

The third time Cardiff get onto Glasgow's 5m line, the ball is turned over.

    But the hosts have scored!?

Jamie Dobie tries to clear but he's shoved over by Dan Thomas and spills the ball in the process. Thomas gathers the ball and dots down.

Try given, and converted. I've never seen anything like that.

    Cardiff 0-7 Glasgow Warriors

Harri Millard - what have you done?!

Callum Sheedy tries an audacious cross-kick and it's judged perfectly behind Josh McKay. Millard lets the ball bounce, it sits up perfectly but he hesitates... allowing a Glasgow defender to steal in and clear.

That looked for all the world like a try.

    Cardiff 0-7 Glasgow Warriors

Cardiff hit back really strongly with Ben Thomas pulling all the strings to get them deep in Glasgow's territory.

It's coughed up again though. The Warriors winning the ball back at the crucial moment once more.

  6. converted try

    Jamie Dobie

A piece of individual brilliance from Dobie!

And it all comes from Kyle Rowe's brilliant clearance down in his own half. He looked certain to be shoved into touch but managed to stay in and launch it down the pitch.

Glasgow turn it over, Josh McKay punches up the middle, before Dobie snipes round the ruck and skips past the fullback.

Tom Jordan slots it. They're the champions for a reason.

    Cardiff 0-0 Glasgow Warriors

Cardiff's first attack of the night is a strong one and they get deep into Glasgow's 22m, before Kyle Rowe's brilliant turnover.

Direct attack meets tenacious defence early on.

    Cardiff 0-0 Glasgow Warriors

Jamie Dobie then knocks on from Glasgow's scrum! Error strewn in the opening stages.

More importantly, Cardiff are able to clear and everything has settled down a touch.

  9. Kick-offpublished at 1 min

    Cardiff 0-0 Glasgow Warriors

Right then, let's get underway. Cardiff in the pale blue and black, Glasgow all in black. Tom Jordan kicks us off.

Morne Ferreira is the referee. And away...

And it's a dreadful start as Alun Lawrence knocks on the kick-off. Dear me.

  10. ICYMI: Gray to depart Glasgow in Novemberpublished at 19:34 British Summer Time 4 October

The news broke earlier today that Scotland lock Richie Gray will leave Glasgow Warriors at the end of November after the URC club "agreed to allow the second-rower to pursue a new playing opportunity abroad".

Glasgow say the 35-year-old's move to an as yet unnamed club was "agreed at the benefit of both parties".

The former Sale, Castres and Toulouse forward is in his second spell with Warriors, having returned to Glasgow in 2020 and reached a century of appearances for his hometown club in May last year.

    Cardiff v Glasgow Warriors (19:35)

Cardiff, along with Leinster, are one of two sides to have secured maximum points from two games in the URC this season.

Glasgow have lost just one of their last six URC matches and that by a solitary point to Ulster in Belfast in the opening round of the 2024-25 season.

The Scottish side have lost only once to Cardiff since 2016 - a 32-28 defeat at the Arms Park in March 2022.

Last week Cardiff conceded a try after just 14 seconds... the quickest try in the URC since Dougie Fife for Edinburgh back in 2018.

They were then trailing 15-0 after just 11 minutes before pulling of a comeback to win at Scarlets.

Not sure they will be able to get away again with a start like that tonight!

  13. Sherratt praises Glasgow 'DNA'published at 19:26 British Summer Time 4 October

    Cardiff v Glasgow Warriors (19:35)

Cardiff head coach Matt Sherratt tells Premier Sports: "We've not got a huge squad but an away derby win is hard to come by so trusting same group of players to go out and repeat, that's the challenge.

"Glasgow are a good all round team. The biggest compliment you can pay them is they've got a very specific DNA, a very specific style of play. With and without the ball they're a very good team, we'll have to be at our very best."

  14. One change for Cardiff; Nine for Warriorspublished at 19:23 British Summer Time 4 October

    Cardiff v Glasgow Warriors (19:35)

Winger Harri Millard is the only Cardiff change from the win over Scarlets, replacing Iwan Stephens with Gabriel Hamer-Webb named as a replacement.

Scotland pair Jack Dempsey and Huw Jones will make their first appearances of the season for Glasgow.

They are among nine changes to the starting side that beat Benetton 42-10 last weekend.

Prop Rory Sutherland and lock Alex Samuel also start, while fly-half Tom Jordan reverts to fly-half after playing centre against Benetton.

Jones resumes his centre partnership with Sione Tuipulotu, who captains the side for the first time this season, while wing Facundo Cordero replaces Kyle Steyn.

  15. Postpublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 4 October

    Cardiff v Glasgow Warriors (19:35)

Glasgow head coach Franco Smith tells Premier Sports: "It's the start of the season, we want everyone to get game time, but we want them to contribute and most changes were planned ahead.

"I'm looking forward to seeing this group so we can keep building squad depth and performances. It's about what we can do, not necessarily the challenge in front of us.

"Both sides of the ball are very important to us. We're known as an attack-minded team but that defence side is important too. We face a fired-up Cardiff tonight, they're top of the log and full of confidence.

On Richie Gray: "I'll miss him as a person, he's a good bloke and he helps me a lot with my work around the line-out. He's an important personality in the team, but it's a huge opportunity for him."

It's a perfect night for rugby here in Cardiff.. and that's not something you often get to say.

It's mild, dry and hardly a breath of wind with a fast pitch to play on.

I think we might see some points tonight.

Or should I say 'Noswaith dda'?

That's right, we are in Cardiff tonight for round three of the URC as reigning champs Glasgow head the Arms Park.

The hosts have been singled out by both Franco Smith and Sione Tuipulotu as the 'surprise package' of the URC this season.

Will they live up to that billing tonight? Let's have a look at the teams...
